Mo:Hi Dr Cabral, Mo here again. Thank you in advance, as always, for taking the time to read and answer my questions. You are truly a wealth of knowledge.My question today is about the podcasts you have done on training. I have heard you say that you should stick to a workout program for 4-6 weeks before changing it so that your body can grow and adapt as you go. Based on that I wanted to clarify if I got this part right. If I am doing full body routines 3x a week would that mean that I do the same workouts? What I mean by this is if I am doing Deadlifts 2x a week, would I do the same style deadlift each time or change the style? Hope this makes sense. I am asking this in regards to every muscle group so if you could give an example that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!
Mo: Hey Dr. Cabral, Mo again, sorry it seems I am taking over all the time with my questions haha.This question is in regards to smart watches (specifically Apple Watch). How accurate do you think they are in calculating calories burned and steps and what not. Would you say they are reliable in that sense? If not, which brand would you say is the most reliable for calculating calories burned.Thanks again for your time and help!
Judy: Dr. Cabral,I notice when I wake up in the morning, my blood sugar often ranges from 83-110 which I heard is not optimal. I know you mentioned 16+hour fasts are not right for everyone. I am a 37yo female, lean, mostly vata / pitta, who has low progesterone. When I tested with your team, my A1C was right at the borderline around 5.6. Do you recommend fasting until my blood sugar goes below 80 or breaking the fast even when my blood sugar is elevated?

Did you leave out vitamin k assuming it would be taken with the DNS shake? I know you always have a reason for everything and I look forward to my shake every single morning. Mo: Hi Dr Cabral, this question is for my father. He was told that his hearing is declining (he's 55) and was told he should get a hearing piece or else "your brain will get lazy and weak and your hearing will just keep getting worse" - his otolaryngologist told him.He has done the 21 day Dr Cabral Detox, the heavy metal detox, the intestinal cleanse, he's on the CBO and after that he will be doing the Mold Protocol. I was reading the book you recommended - You are the Placebo -Dr Joe Dispenza and started thinking that he can get his hearing back. I wanted your opinion on this and also see if you have any recommendations. My father does not listen to music on head phones or anything like that, he's a Vatta Pitta Kapha. Any advice is much appreciate as always, thank you for all you do!
Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral, I have been listening to your podcasts (the 500s episodes) where you speak about on coming disease and different signs. I noticed one of them was waking up and peeing at night. I do that and always have for as long as I can remember. I'm always thirsty and drink water right up to bed and also when I wake up to pee I will drink more water. Do you think I should stop drinking before bed? I've done 4 of your 7 day detoxs, intestinal cleanse, CBO, gut finisher, parasite protocol and eat the same meals you do, feel better and better everyday. I guess the only thing I need to do is to run labs to see if there is an issue. If thats correct please let me know which labs and also any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Mo: Hi Dr Cabral, Mo here again. I just wanted to start off by telling you that I do not think you have any clue how much of an impact you have made in my immediate family & the world. You are one of my idols and I am so grateful for having been introduced to you. Thank you for all you do, it is truly needed in the world, especially these days!In regards to my question, this is something that has been confusing me for nearly a decade and no-one has been able to give me a proper answer. I have used multiple smart watches to calculate my BMR and have counted my macros numerous times of my life and cant seem to understand how this works for my body. I am 6'3, 185-190lbs, typically around a 4-8% B/F, Pitta-Vatta, do 3 days a week full body interval training, 2 days light cardio. I average about 3800 calories burned on light days and 4500 on full body training days however I cant seem to eat more than 2500 calories unless I do a cheat/flex meal. How is it that my body can burn more calories nearly every single day of the week than it takes in and I am not catabolic? I feel absolutely amazing (especially since following a lot of your protocols and daily routines). I'm not trying to put on muscle or get any bigger, but just curious what your thoughts are. Imogen: Hi there!Thank you for everything you do! I am currently reading your book and am learning so much.What is your opinion on camels milk? I searched it up on your podcast but there were no results. Would it be similar to goats milk or would you avoid it like cows dairy. (I have never tried it though so not sure what it taste like)
James: Hi Mentor Cabral. I have messaged you a few times during my bodybuilding bulk and cut. Thanks for your previous advice. I am currently in my cutting phase and my question is........... Once I come out of my cutting phase, I obviously want to retain all the muscle I have built for as long as possible, basically the remainder of my life. My predicament though, is that I do not want to constantly worry about if I have consumed 0.8-1g of protein per lb of body weight, and I don't want to worry about eating at a maintenance everyday. Will my body adjust to this new found muscle, and will I retain my muscle naturally just through regular strength training and just eating intuitively? Or, will I still have to make sure I am eating at a maintenance and getting lots of protein? I'll be around 200lbs at the end of my cut so It's quite a lot of protein and calories I need to be at maintenance, and I would rather just eat how I feel like. Obviously I know I cannot starve myself, or eat 30g of protein and expect to retain my muscle I have built up this year, but I just wondered if you had any tips on how to retain my muscle without being so anal about my calories and macronutrient ratios?

Bettina: Dear Stephen CabralThank you for your great podcast and for sharing all your knowledge, I truly appreciate it.I have a question regarding smoothies with frozen berries. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration advice that all frozen berries are cooked at high heat for one minute before consuming. This is because of a possible link between Hepatitis A and smoothies with frozen berries. I drink smoothies everyday with frozen berries so I would love to know what your thoughts are on this?Best regards Bettina

Do you feel this is something that Vegans should supplement with after fine tuning foundational things first using data from the Big Five Labs? 2. What are your thoughts on Magnesium Threonate compared to other forms of Magnesium. IS: Hi Dr. Cabral, I’m a daily listener of your podcast and often search some information for any health topic. I tried to find an episode about Lichen Planus skin disease but didn’t find anything. My grandmama has this autoimmune disease and I would love to know more about the reasons and mechanisms of the disease. Where should I start when thinking any advices for my grandma? She has suffered from skin and gut issues for her whole life and now she is 88 years old. Thank you for advance!
Tracy: Hello!Thank you for all you do to help others on a daily basis. I gain so much knowledge through you. You give so much hope to me on my health journey. Could you please tell me what I can do to improve low immunoglobulins A (my level is 40) & E (level <2) ?Also, I have antiparietal cell antibodies, struggle with a ton of nutritional deficiencies in spite of eating very healthy, complement c4a is very high at 1839. I had Lyme disease 2 years ago which after 3 rounds of antibiotics I still was not symptom free and have been struggling intermittently since. I am trying to piece the puzzle together. Frustrated because I feel like with my very healthy lifestyle, I should be feeling so much better than I do. Thank you so much!
Paula: Hi Dr Cabral. How can someone do the CBO protocol, the CBO finisher and still be sensitive to numerous herbs? I thought this was going to be resolved once I rebalanced my microbiome but I continue to react to things like Saffron, licorice, cumin and a bunch of other teas and spices! Do you think it takes more than 6 months to fully heal the gut and have a healthy microbiome? Maybe if I continue taking the daily probiotic for a few more months it will improve? What are your thoughts?
Sarah: Hi Dr Cabral, I’m a big fan. Thanks for what you do. I am looking for some advice for my husband. He suffers with issues down the right side of his body. He has tendinitis in his right leg, he has a blind spot in his right eye, a hernia on his lower abdomen and a lump on the right side of his lower back. Is this a liver issue? Would cutting out inflammatory foods such as gluten, dairy, sugar, soy, eggs help? He also gets heart cramping from time to time. He has seen numerous doctors and is always told to go back if things get worse as he is managing but he is in pain everyday and is quite miserable. Do you have any other suggestions? Many thanks.
Julia: Hi I have suffered from IBS (mainly IBS-C) for over 10 years. I have been through a number of diets-GF, DF, FODMAP etc. but will admit its been difficult to stick with it and also then everything I ate just ended up not making me feel good even "healthy" foods.I have done the 7 day cabral detox and have felt amazing afterward so would like to continue and learn more. I also think hormonal testing I would greatly benefit from.
Andrea: After doing the big 5, I had some minor yeast overgrowth, mineral imbalances, very little mercury and some hormonal issues. Nothing too "out of whack" I would say a part from hormones. I am 23, and currently a level 1 IHP student thus follow all of your nutrition, supplementation and exercise recommendations. I haven't ovulated for almost a year now (no signs of my period) after stopping the pill. My estrogen was extremely low (0.5) and so was progesterone (21). The rest was in control including cortisol, DHEA, testosterone, etc. I couldn't test during a specific day in my cycle because I don't get my periods so that was a bit annoying of course. Given that I've followed all your health coach's recommendations (Laura) such as CBO Protocol, CBO finisher, Adrenal soothe at night, DNS, etc would you think that at this point it looks like I have to go the conventional path? I know that you don't give medical advice but I'd love to know your point of view. Do you think I should try hormonal therapy temporarily to force my period? Or should I wait a few more months? Even though I'm still far away of becoming a mother, I do worry about fertility. Not only that but I also get very worried as I know that the period is a sign of health... Darra: Hey good day Dr. Cabral. Hope all is well with you and your family. I read the rain barrel effect and listen to this podcast regularly and live a healthy life. However, I have hyperpigmentation at nasolabial (laugh lines), chin and between eyebrows. Dunno if it's due to sun exposure or what (I live in Caribbean) or something. Anyway, tried various recommendations from supplements to massages and an esthician and skincare expert recommended ambi cream (2% hydroquinone) on the affected areas to remove them. I am usually vs these products but I hate how they look. Do the benefits outweigh the potential risks (if any) using these products? Darren: Good day Dr. Cabral. Hope all is well with you. Is it normal to have diarrhea or water stool on third day of 3 day fast/detox? I used the AM/FM detox but not the Daily Nutrional Support. Consumed no protein but took vitamin b, c, d, alpha lipoic acid, NAC, zinc, dandelion root, black walnut, spirulina, pau d' arco, ginger tea, nettle from the supplements I already have. Some from you, others from other naturopath suppliers. Just want to know if this is normal, body removing waste or a cause for concern. Thank you and keep up good work

Melissa: Hello again Doctor Cabral! If you recall, I wrote in recently about my toddler, Bob. GI and eczema issues since birth - lots of testing (functional and conventional) but still no real answers. It was SO exciting to hear you talk of him! It restored my hope! Thank you again for your ongoing investment - you are truly an angel walking among us.We are saving up for the labs you recommended, and should have enough by the semi-annual sale in October! It can’t come soon enough.In the meantime, I know the WHY/HOW doesn’t necessarily matter..but it’s a topic that has always weighed on my mind a lot. I truly believe that stress is what took my Bob’s health from him. While I was pregnant I was under tremendous, unchecked, rampant stress. You always hear that pregnant ladies need to take it easy and not get worked up..I didn’t think it mattered. I did nothing to ease my stress. Just pushed through - constantly stressed and angry. It’s what keeps coming back to me when I ponder his “why”. You talk of stress as a very real cause of health problems, and it’s reduction as essential to healing.How though..? How do you reduce the stress of a toddler? How do you discipline without stressing? Tiptoeing around trying not to upset him isn’t the answer either, right? Thank you!!
Mars: Hi Dr. Stephen Cabral,Your programs have been always informative and fun to listen to. Thank you for the knowledge you share. They are truly helpful.I have three questions here. They are:(1) Will autophagy induce platelet or red blood cell reduction?(2) Will nutrient deficiency or constant caloric deficit induce platelet or red blood cell reduction?(3) Is it fine to do IF (16:8) every day as long as the caloric intake is sufficient?I've been doing IF for around a year. By the end of last year, I happen to learn that my platelet count drops below normal range (at around 80000.) Fortunately, after a clinic visit, the doctor told me that the related blood index are all fine. And I don't have bleeding symptom. Since then, I changed my IF protocol to 16:8, which should be less intense I think. But in the recent health check, my platelet count remains the same. So I'm wondering if it is because I exclude rice (contains folate & iron) from my food plan and remain a 200-caloric deficit at the same time? Or it's simply not good to do IF every day because autophagy has such kind of negative effect?Thank you for reviewing my long questions above. Darrel: Hey Dr. Cabral. Pleasant day. I came across an Indian yogi and later found what he said supported by Feng Shui with regard to sleeping directions. They say if we live in Northern Hemisphere (it's opposite if you live in Southern hemisphere) and sleep facing North, the magnetic pull of the direction attracts iron, which gets accumulated in the brain. This is the reason why many people complain of getting a headache when they wake up. Sleeping with your head pointing North can also disrupt your blood circulation and lead to disturbed sleep. It can also increase disorders such as insomnia etc. Any truth to this in ayurveda or any of the teachings you've come across?
Steven: What are your thoughts on sea moss? I feel like its becoming mainstream now!
Farah: Hi Dr Cabral, I'm a level 1 IHP student and in the supplement protocol module, you showed us the little zip bags to carry supplements on the go. However, I assume these are made out of plastic right? Wouldn't that be an issue for women because of the potential hormonal issues that plastic can cause?
Judy: Hi Dr. Cabral,I hope this message finds you healthy and well. My question is in regards to blood sugar regulation. I have listened to your podcast regarding glucose monitors and optimal blood sugar levels. I have been tracking my glucose for quite some time and I am never optimal. I eat a whole foods diet with an once a week sweet treat made with natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. Any healthy carb like whole fruits, Japanese yams, brown rice, etc. spike my blood sugar very high and never allows it to go below 80 unless I severely restrict these carbs. I am a lean athletic build and have worked with your team in the past for adrenal resistance, hormone and thyroid issues. What steps do you recommend to address this issue?
Paual: Hi Dr Cabral. I used braces for 2 years and after that they put fixed retainers on my bottom teeth to prevent further movement. I went to a holistic dentist in London to remove this after learning about heavy metal toxicity during IHP Level 1 but they told me that it wasn't made out of mercury and it was just stainless steel. They said that there are no issues with that and if I removed them there was a high risk of my teeth moving again. I'm not sure what to do now... do you think stainless steel is an issue? Steven: Hey Dr Cabral! Love your podcast. Tuning in every single morning :) My question is: Why does the gut support powder contain zinc bisglycinate chelate and not picolinate? Is one better than the other or are both great for the intestinal mucosa? Thank you!
Simon: Hello and thank you Dr Cabral,I am giving a short presentation at a conference in November and don't want to be a stuttering, forgetful mess. Apart from general good health, deep breathing and presentation techniques, I am wondering what supplements you might recommend to increase mental clarity whilst maintaining calm. I'm concerned some nootropics may achieve mental performance at the expense of calm and calming supplements may dampen my mental sharpness. Any thoughts? Many of my contemporaries swear by beta-blockers in these situations; would these be ok for limited use?

Lala: Hi Dr Cabral, I hope you are doing great. I cannot thank you enough for all of these Q&A's that you do. You truly are a superhero! I had my thyroid checked 6 months ago and my TSH and T3 were great but my free T4 was on the lower end. My doctor asked me to retest 3 months later to check if T4 would go up. I recently retested again and nothing has changed. My TSH and T3 are great but my free T4 continues to be low. I don't understand what is going on! I am on my early 20s, exercise regularly, eat a predominantly plant-based diet (mostly organic) take zinc picolinate, full spectrum magnesium, activated multi vitamin, b complex and omega 3 fish oil. I have noticed though that when I don't take my supplements, I do feel tired that day but a part from that no other symptoms. My gut is healthy I believe because I did the candida and bacterial optimizer protocol last year. Any idea what the root cause could be? Would this be something to worry about? I can get very paranoid with these things sometimes and I worry a little bit too much…
Mario: Every time I take the daily probiotic by equilibrium my tongue gets a black coating. It’s so weird! From my research it indicates a vata-based imbalance but it’s odd that I only get it when I take the probiotic... do you think that it might be because it’s rebalancing my gut microbiome so it’s like a “die-off” effect?
Mario: Hi Dr Cabral. Sorry, I forgot to say in the last question that I didn't get a black coating on the tongue with the Clean Probiotic only the Daily Probiotic. Maybe this information might make a difference in identifying the reason haha!
Sarah: What are your thoughts on seamoss?
Fiona: Hi Dr Cabral, I hope you and your family are doing good during these difficult times! So, you always say that a lot of people with increased intestinal permeability tend to have a lot of igG food sensitivities. However, this is a reaction to the protein right? What about all of those people that react to a lot of herbs? This wouldn't be a reaction to the protein would it? Thank you so much, Fiona.
Tessa: Hi Dr. Cabral-What is the most effective way to help lower triglycerides? I have recently adopted a mostly plant based diet a couple months ago and have lost 10lb. I am still significantly overweight but working on it with diet and exercise and had my gallbladder removed last year for gallstones. My recent bloodwork showed my total cholesterol at 148 with slightly elevated triglycerides. Thanks for your help, I have learned so much from your podcast!

Derek: Hi Dr Cabral. I am a registered holistic nutritionist and have been listening to your podcast for over 2 years now and it is very informative and inspiring! I am just wondering if you use homeopathic medicine at all in your practice and what your thoughts are on it? I have wanted to learn a little more about it but am having a hard time finding some good resources on homeopathy . Looking forward to hearing back and thank you so much for your wealth of knowledge!
Jenna: I am curious on your thoughts on using algae or algae oil supplements for Omega 3s vs using fish oil supplements. What are the pros & cons of each? To my understanding, the fish get their Omega 3s from the algae originally, so it makes sense to go straight to the source instead of the "middle man" but fish oil still seems to be more widely recommended instead of algae. What do you think?
Aaron: Dr. Cabral, thanks for sharing so much in your podcasts. I am interested in ayurveda and wonder if you would consider incorporating more ayurvedic terms and analysis in your podcasts. I was reading a translation of the Sushruta Samhita before I discovered you, and am now enjoying Dr. Vasant Lad's Ayurveda textbooks. You've recommended some other ayurvedic books that are on my list, and eventually I'll make it to the Caraka Samhita, but it's a LOT of "alternate" terms to take in! When you answer house calls and give the highlights before referring to a previous podcast, the repetition really helps me with tying things together and remembering them. Adding ayurveda would be a very sweet cherry on top! Would you also consider Dr. Lad's pulse analysis with your topics? It's very complex and your expertise is appreciated, as always! Mary: Hello,I have been a listener of the podcasts. Thank you for all of the information you share. I recently went to see a functional medicine doctor. I am the mother of 3 boys under age 6 and experiencing brain fog, short attention span, difficulty with memory, anxiety, increased irritability etc. All of my labs came back within normal range. I did a Brain Core brain mapping test and it showed low beta waves (75% dysregulated). The other brain waves were only 'off' by 5-20%. I am considering doing neurofeedback sessions with the doctor. He also suggested supplements, and a good diet to support brain health.Everything sounded reasonable etc, but considering the time and money aspects I wanted to hear Dr. Cabral's take on neurofeedback. I searched the podcasts, but nothing popped up in the search bar. Do you think neurofeedback has benefits? Thanks for your help!
Mo: Hi Dr. Cabral,I can't begin to tell you how amazing your teachings have been for me and my family. Absolutely amazing and life changing. You are a gift to us all!My question is about protein intake.I know you have spoken about this many, many, many times but I am not sure if you have mentioned anything for someone that is very active. I am a pitta-vatta (based on answering your questions from episode 900-907-914), 6'3, 31yr/0, 190lbs, 7-9% BF. Prior to your teachings I trained heavy and intense 4-5x a week but since I found you and your book and listened to nearly 800 episodes so far (I listen to about 4-8 episodes a day lol). I now train full body heavy interval/tri-set/EMOM/ usually 1-2x, 1x medium to light training, and 1-2x just light easy cardio per week. I feel great now, not as burnt out as I used to feel before your teachings.My question is, do I still need to do about half my body weight in protein or would you look at doing more? I don't get hungry after eating for usually 3 hours. I do your famous purple shake every morning and have calculated my macros to be around 110g of protein, 220g of carbs, 90g of fat on average with 2 flex meals per week which I fast the next day.Thank you again for all you do, the world needs more Dr Cabrals!
