It's hard to believe, but the way we now view life had already been shaped well before we even graduated from high school...

This is why I've said before that most people only have the illusion of choice...

They've never been told that the reason they think and act the way they do is due to preconceived conditioning that happened during childhood...

So although your subconscious thoughts can be reprogrammed you have to figure out what to reprogram in the first place!

This will then allow you to be free in mind and body to begin to achieve any goals you've set for yourself! (No more self-sabotage.)

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 549 for the details on how to find out what the invisible chains are that are holding you back - Enjoy the show!

I hope you enjoyed yesterday's #HouseCall and you're ready to get started with another community Q&A!

Here are today's questions I'll be answering:

Lubos: Dr. Cabral. What is the main difference between 23&me vs. the genetic testing you provide via your website? I assume you may have covered this topic before (I'm relatively new to your podcast and to you) but there seems to be no content search functionality on your blog/website. Thank you and thank you for all you do. Lubos

Anonymous: Hey Doctor Cabral! Love your podcast dearly, thank you for all the information you provide. I love to learn from you. I found out I have the heterozygous MTHFR 677C/T mutation and was wondering if it is necessary for my to consume additional folate besides my daily multi vitamin which already contains 400mg. When I tried additional folate I got bad reactions such as insomnia and anxiety so I stopped, but I have read your body needs to go through a adjustment period for compensating for so long with this mutation. Is there any truth to this? Thanks!

Aileen: Hi there! You mentioned in a recent podcast that dairy definitely feeds cancer (not causes but feeds the growth of cells when you have it). A friends sisters cancer has metasticized and her Dr said dietary changes aren't important but exercise is (!!!!!). Can you speak to the research behind this so I can send her in the right direction? Couldn't find any clean examples online. Thank you! I'll be sure to review on iTunes - I don't listen to any podcasts other than yours and they're so informative.

Angela: Hi Dr. Cabral, I want to start by saying thank you for everything you do, and for the accessible and unmatched information you offer through the best podcast out there! My question is regarding my mom's eyes. About a month ago her eyes have started to tear throughout the day. They are not itchy or red but have a sticky residue in the mornings, can be puffy, and they leave a crusty deposit around the tear ducts. She has used antibiotic eye drops that did not help. She had a bad case of pink eye about a year ago which was treated by antibiotic eye drops, which seemed to help. She has allergies to pollen and cats, as well as asthma. I have suggested to her that her sensitivities to histamines could be a cause and she has switched her face cream to Argan oil. Any suggestions would help! Thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated. Angela

Anita: Hi Dr. Cabral, I listen to your podcast every day. You are truly amazing because of all the knowledge and help you give to so many people. I'll give you my history in as little words as possible here. I've been vegan for over four years now. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and some grains. I probably eat more sugar than I should by means of dark chocolate. I don't eat gluten because I have celiac disease, I'm 50 now. I'm depressed, anxious and exhausted all the time. I get bladder infections almost every time my husband and I are intimate, although since you have suggested probiotics I haven't had one for a month now. My joints are incredibly sore all over my body especially my hands, feet, hips and shoulders. I'm taking 50 billion probiotics with eight strains because I believe from what everything you have taught me that I have a leaky gut. I also have GERD, IBS, and have fibroids in my uterus. I wonder if I have yeast overgrowth. I ordered your Dr. Cabral three week detox and will be starting as soon as it gets here. Dr. Cabral, if you could give me any advice specific to my situation I would be forever grateful as I have been living in this state for many years and it's affecting my personal and professional life in a very bad way. Thank you for all that you do!

Laura: Hi Dr. Cabral, Great information and all of your podcast! I am a health coach and have used your detox protocol on myself and others with great results! My question is regarding a special client of mine. This person has majority of their colon removed. She has just enough left so she doesn't have to have a bag. I want her to do a detox protocol but she is worried about the fiber intake and problems with her lack of colon. What would you recommend as a detox protocol for this client. Does she still need to take some sort of fiber/binding agent or is she OK to just "let things come out" so to speak. Lol thank you so much for all of your wonderful information and health advice. - Laura

Welcome back to the weekend Cabral HouseCalls!

It's great to have you and I can't wait to get into today's community questions - Let's get started!

Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral, Long-time listener (and asker of questions). Here’s my entire health history, in a TINY nutshell: - Lifelong history of terrible nutrition: I was raised on sugar and have craved (and consumed) sugary, fatty, terrible food for as long as I can remember. Despite this poor diet, I have always been athletic and obsessed with strength and fitness. - For my entire adult life (I am 37) I have experienced recurring fungal skin infections, all over body, and bloating. - 5-6 years ago, I started suffering from persistent anxiety attacks. I did nothing to treat the anxiety, other than learn not to freak out during an attack. Over time (6-7 months) the attacks, pretty much disappeared. - 9 months ago, out of nowhere, I developed a nasty wheezing cough, that would come and go, and which was, eventually, diagnosed as LPR. I started to rely on an albuterol inhaler for my asthma. I have tried many approaches to treating this, including eliminating stress, taking melatonin at night, and drastically changing my diet, all to limited success. SO…anxiety, fungal infections with bloating, LPR. I am, now, one month into your candida and bacterial overgrowth protocol. Without doubt, this has made a difference: I’ve lost fat, I don’t tend to need my inhaler, my fungal skin infections seem to be pretty much non-existent, and (this is a little embarrassing) my wife no longer suffers a yeast infection EVERY time we have sex: this was the case for years. (Is this a definite sign of candida?) I work out 6 days a week (weights 3 times, cardio 3 times), practice intermittent fasting (16/8), and am allowing myself 1 (healthy) cheat meal per week, including a small dessert. (I do, also, have 1 cup of black coffee every morning...I hope this is okay?!) Anyway, all in all, I am doing much better than I was. However, I do find that these symptoms persist: tension in diaphragm (anxiety?), lump in throat, excessive burping, and tightness in lungs. But, here’s the interesting thing that I hope you can shed some light on: my symptoms seem to be (and this has always been the case) manifesting as part of a cycle. What happens is, I’ll go about a week with virtually no symptoms, and then the symptoms start to kick in, and gradually worsen, over the course of about 7-10 days. Typically, it’ll start with the tension in the diaphragm, then burping and throat issues, then some asthma-like symptoms of tightness in the lungs (although I don’t seem to get the wheeziness that used to be there), and anxiety is always accompanying these. After this 7-10 day period, the symptoms start to slowly go away, and I have a decent week or so. I don’t change my diet or lifestyle, in any way. It feels like as soon as I start to think “hey, maybe I’m starting to heal,” the symptoms return. It’s incredibly frustrating and demoralizing. With all of that being said, I wondered if this persistent cycle of symptoms is something you’re familiar with, and/or if my description tells you something that I haven’t considered. Also, how much of a role do thoughts (both negative and positive) play in this? Is it possible that ALL of my symptoms are caused by stress/negativity? I ask because I have tended toward negative, depressed, thoughts for as long as I can remember, and I definitely feel physically worse when I’m depressed/stressed. At this stage, I feel that my best course of action is to continue the candida/bacterial overgrowth protocol, work on stress-reduction, and hope that the symptoms start to become less and less over time. Thanks so much for doing what you do. Your podcast has been an absolute life-saver and continues to help me through some very dark times.

LaSandra: Hello, Dr. Cabral! Thank you so much for your commitment to helping everyone you possibly can. Your health recovery story is such an inspiration to me! I'm writing to get your advice about Meniere's Disease. For an entire year, I suffered from daily migraines and vertigo. I saw a naturopath who suspected that the root cause was extreme adrenal fatigue as I had undergone a 10 month span of extreme stress just before the vertigo started. I have since been able to manage my migraines better through stress reduction, dietary changes and acupuncture. However, I have occasional bouts of vertigo that seem more Meniere's in nature. I get debilitating vertigo with hearing loss and tinnitus in my right area. The episode lasts a day or so, and then I recover completely which is very different from the ongoing milder vertigo I experienced with migraines. It seems that western medicine doesn't have much to offer when it comes to vestibular issues. I would love any advice you have as the general attitude about Meniere's seems to be that you can't treat it or control it (aside from reducing sodium intake) and just have to hope for the best, but you'll likely go completely deaf. I should also mention that I have Celiac and have had chronic IBS for many, many years. I just finished doing your Food Sensitivities/Candida test and am looking forward to healing my gut with the help of your team. I do believe that my gut health is related and possibly is the key to fixing this. Your story and podcasts give me hope that I can affect change and be healthy. Thank you so much for your help!

Cara:  Hi Dr. Stephen Cabral, I have a 21 month old daughter who I am still nursing (during the day only) and she eats a nutrient dense diet. She typically starts off with a scrambled egg, avocado and fruit. Lunch is usually leftovers. Dinner is wild salmon, grassfed bison/beef, free range chicken and broccoli and sweet potatoes. I give her Klaire labs infant probiotic mixed with a dash of camu camu and some drops of Herb Pharm kids echinacea daily. I got into the habit of giving her echinacea when I was boosting her immune system before traveling on a plane. I also give her the Herb Pharm Kids elderberry occasionally. Is this ok? Can the echinacea be overdone? Additionally, she was born at 36 weeks 2 days albeit a life saving crash cesarean ...we had major blood loss, she received two blood transfusions, she was incubated and taken via ambulance to a children's hospital where she was cooled to 91 degrees for 72 hours. Which prevented stroke, seizure, cerebral palsy etc. She is perfect but she was low in iron at 10 months - I fixed that with food - combinging iron rich foods, grassfed liver, beef, bison with camu camu, molasses and at the end floravital. We raised it from 8.6 to 13.3 in 3 months and without medicine! Does she also need a multi Vitamin soon? THANK YOU for your work and house calls!!

Jamie: Hey Dr. Cabral! For a while now I've been having issues drinking tea(green, black and Mate). Even when drinking it after a meal I still get bloating, heart burn, belching and brain fog. But Coffee I have no issues with. Although I used to never have an issue with tea I found out after testing that I have Sibo and H. Pylori. I'm on the CBO protocol for it and although I took a break from drinking tea, I read that black and green tea have compounds that are good against fighting H. Pylori but when I tried to re-introduce them the symptoms came right back. Also I'm pretty sure that from all these gut issues I have developed a histamine intolerance. Will I be able to drink tea again? If so, how long should I wait before I re-introduce. Thanks!!!!

Sara: Hello, I'm hoping to tap into your wealth of health knowledge to help my son. He is a commercial airline pilot. He gets sick with cold-like symptoms quite often. What is a good health kit he could travel with so he's armed when he begins to feel the sinus, ear and nasal congestion creeping up on him? He usually comes down with strep once a year as well as the cold symptoms I listed above even more often. Maybe a daily immune boosting protocol would be in order too. Thanks so much! God bless you. Homotoxicology is an almost unheard of system of medicine, but it's been practiced for over 100 years...

Even some of the best integrative doctors in the world are unaware of the "6 phases of toxicity" and how they account for every imaginable "disease" we've named...

I was fortunate enough to learn it while studying Naturopathy and then later becoming certified in this form of medicine...

I consider it to be a cornerstone of helping people get well - Because if you don't know how the "disease" got there in the first place you certainly can't help someone reverse it...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 543 to discover the 6 phases of toxicology and how it can help you get well, lose weight, and live longer - Enjoy the show!

Growing up most of us were taught that your mind is completely separate from your body...

Little did I know that the 2 are intimately connected and effect each other far more than any of us have ever been led to believe...

Every thought you think influences every cell in your body, and likewise, your physical body effects your thoughts...

The good news is that once you understand how to increase your energy in both mind and body, you can control how you feel, think, and respond to the world around you...

For more details on how to make this change in your own life tune into today's #CabralConcept 542 - Enjoy the show!

Thank you for tuning back into our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend where we're answering more of our community's questions on all things wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging!

Here are today's Q&A topics:

Larissa: Hi, I've already tested my DNA through 23andMe. I was wondering if you or your clinic would interpret the raw data that I already have and offer diet/lifestyle recommendations from that. I carry one APOE-ε3 allele and one APOE-ε4 allele. I was wondering if that means a Ketogenic diet (high in healthy fats) would be beneficial or maybe not at all. I've already experimented with Paleo (but I think I was consuming too much meat over all) and that, (in addition to a high stress lifestyle) led to leaky gut, parasites, and bacterial imbalances (IBS symptoms). I experimented with Gluten Free Veganism and consumed a lot of high carb veggies, potatoes, beans, and rice. After doing a parasite cleanse, I did an Organix Acid test and it said I wasn't processing all the carbs. So I think I was over doing it on the carbs and maybe should live a more middle road approach. I'm on the mends from healing my gut finally but was wondering what the best diet would be for me moving forward once I'm healed. Thank you! I really enjoy listening to your podcasts! :)

Catherine: Hi Dr. Cabral, I recently graduated as a certified Integrative Health Coach from IIN. One of my first clients is a mysterious case. He says when he was born he came out all black and blue and from that moment till about 20 he was prescribed massive amounts of antibiotics. He was recently diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma and had a huge cyst removed from his back. He now says they diagnosed Cellulitis for many gaping wounds on his legs. Now here's the kicker...he works at a health food store and has gone through every protocol to kill this bacteria that is causing severe inflammation. He says he has taken all the probiotics like Syntol, CBD oil, silver, oil of oregano etc. You name it he's done it. He is a hard core Paleo follower only eating organic grass fed beef, lots of fruit and veggies and no processed food. I think he should lean more plant based, and address his Primary Food, like the lack of support system and finances and spirituality. Maybe hypnosis or visualization. I know you had major issues with rebuilding your body after all those antibiotics and I told him you could be a real asset in finding the solution to his underlying fungus issues. I look forward to listening to your podcast every day. You are amazing and one day I would love to collaborate as one of your health coaches to help you bring your practice to the masses. Your work truly has a ripple effect that reaches and is helping to heal the world. Thanks and God bless, Catherine Ps- I am now using a the same PEMF technology that NASA uses in hopes of improving his micro circulation so the body can begin to heal itself. If you are interested please feel free to reach out.

Adriana: Hi Dr. Cabral! My question is regarding my boyfriend, we´ve been dating for four years now and I have to say that sex WAS amazing for the first three years and a frustration over the last year since we moved together, he has very low libido so we have sex once a month and sometimes not even once!! He is 32 years old and lifts weights 3-4 times a week, he participated in body building competitions when he was 16-18 years old and did very strict diets back then, his brother had thyroid nodules and I´m wondering if his low libido has something to do with something physical, maybe adrenal fatigue or thyroid issues (I listened a podcast of yours regarding this). One more thing, he told me it´s been a pattern since he started having sex, his libido is totally fine for no more than two years, after that time it disappears and his old girlfriends with it. He thinks it might be something psychological and has started seeing a therapist but I insist it might be something else. Thanks sooooo much for your help!! Adriana

Flor: I keep having reoccurring UTI's. I've been to my primary doctor several times and they keep prescribing antibiotics. The pain is so bad sometimes I can't walk, i want out of this cycles. Where do you suggest I start?

Tennille: Hi Stephen, appreciate what you do each day. amazing that you are helping make a difference. listening from Trinidad and Tobago each day. straight to my question. how to improve eye health? i have recently taken meat out of my diet and noticed my vision has become a little blurred. (so maybe lacking minerals) i am only 24 years old, maintain a whole foods diet, exercise 3-5 times per week. any suggestions?

Kellie: Hello Dr. Cabral- I started listening to your podcasts about 4-5 months ago and I have to say you really turn much of what we know on its head. I could be asking one of a million questions pertaining to myself or my immediate family members but have finally decided what I want to ask. My 20 y/o daughter has had a very unhealthy year. Lots of upper respiratory infections that didn't quit, cystic ovaries( discovered from painful periods that sidelined her for at least the first day) UTI's; strep; Bronchitis; general malaise- culminating with a Bells Palsy in April and now Erythema Nodosum( which is extremely painful). She has taken on a Vegan diet about 2 years ago- however I have to caveat- she is an extremely picky eater. Potatoes, salad, broccoli, cucumber rolls , pizza with no cheese and Pho comprise the bulk of her diet. Occassionally a fruit smoothie. Fats/ oils actually make her feel physically sick. Lots of OCD like tendencies specific to expiration dates on foods. If we are approaching a date- 3-4 days out; cannot eat. She has seen a neurologist for the Bells - which she had a pretty full recovery. Once in a great while you can see her eyes blink at a slightly different rate. Her GYN prescribes birth control to regulate her hormonal imbalance- evidently she was way out of wack and her periods are 100% improved. She saw a functional doc who did a blood work up and discovered she had extremely low D, iron and B12- she is taking supplements for those. In listening to your podcasts I believe she is a prime example of what you call epi-genetics. I believe something I. Her environment maybe her poor diet flipped a switch. She is seeing a rheumatologist next week to try and figure out why this Erythema Nodosum has come about. Researching that is definitely mind boggling. Could be nothing could be precursor to something very serious. Lastly she is also prone to high anxiety. Because she is young I am hoping everything can be fixed but am more than concerned these things are happening. I think she might have been a classic adrenal fatigue candidate. The functional labs included Cortisol and it was 3.6. Last summer she did work 2 jobs about 60+ hrs a week on her feet. Went straight to second year of college and well- we all know that lifestyle is not always the most conducive to good health. By March she had nothing left - zero energy, lack of desire to try. Than came BP and it's a miracle she didn't drop out of school. What are you thinking? Where does she even begin? I know there is no magic bullet but truly at a loss. Ps- lots of labs over the year. Tested negative for Lyme, HIV, mono, Epstein Barr etc. thank you for all you do. Can't wait for your book to come out. TIA.

I hope you had a great weekend and be sure to join us on tomorrow's Motivation & Mindset Monday show!

Welcome to this weekend's Cabral HouseCall show!

I'm looking forward to seeing what we have this week for questions from our community, so let's get started!

Carol: Hi Dr. Cabral, You talk about the benefits of dry saunas, but our gym has a steam bath. Is Steam as good as dry heat; please explain the differences! Thanks for all you do! Carol

Saralyn: I own an asphalt company and we burn through the sunscreen, literally! I would love the recipe that you talked about on this podcast!

Anonymous: Hello, Thank you for the hope you offer us through the sharing of your knowledge! My question is regarding Folliculitis. My husband battles this once or twice a year on his thighs. It typically happens when he works in hot wx wearing jeans. Is there an alternative to using an RX to treat this? Thank you, Anonymous

Lauren: Hi! Thank you for everything you do, my family and I love to sit around and discuss what you've taught us! I just got back the results of my food sensitivity test, and it says I need to avoid corn. I am wondering if that includes popcorn? It's my favorite snack and I can't help but wonder if the fact that it is dried could alter the danger of it. Thanks for helping a fearful corn-lover out!

Jen: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have two questions. Whenever I eat any grains, I feel tired, bloated, my nose gets stuffed up and I sometimes even get moody and I feel like it gets worse every time I try a little here and there. I've also had two root canals and recently all my old amalgam fillings removed except one small one. I feel like there is a lot of toxic build up in my body as a result. What would you recommend for a heavy metal and deep cell detox? I've heard you talk a little about removing toxins in the home as well and I am wondered if you have a list of brand names you trust in your own home or natural homemade recommendations for replacing things like dish soap, laundry detergent, household cleaners, shampoo/conditioner, makeup, etc. with safer products? Love your podcast and am so grateful for all you do! Thank you!

Jodi: You recommended two different toothpastes; Jason's and Lucky's. Do you have a preference?

Stacie: I'm a 45 year old 135 5'8 female. I don't know where to start. I have symptoms for histamine intolerance, Mthfr, and leaky gut. I do feel like mybstints doing GAPS has helped my histamine tolerance to some degree. I have been Paleo and GF for 4+ years, I tend to stay quite low carb high fat(rarely going over 60 carbs) i eat all organic, grass fed meats and fats. Most days I do intermittent fasting. I am an ectomorph and have been doing crossfit 4+ years. I tend to be more strict on calories and carbs when I can't do crossfit due to injury ( which is my current situation) I am an excessive all or nothing, high stress person. I do drink wine ( I go through phases where I will have several glasses a night) and coffee (trying to quit the caffeine). For the last few years i have battled ligament after ligament injury. I have torn both acls (1 just a month ago), Achilles, plantar facitis, shin splints and currently tendonitis on both elbows. I am quite sure I am drastically deficient in minerals, specifically magnesium. I also wonder what hormone issues I have as I did 3 years of IVF and fertility treatments (failed- ended up adopting). Long story, what tests and protocols do you suggest and in what order? What do you suggest I do with diet? Thank you for your amazing podcast!! Just found it and I'm hooked!

Stacie: Forgot to also mention that joints always hurt and low energy throughout day. Also, my daughter (adopted at 2 1/2 from China )who is almost 8 has asthma and myriad of skin issues. Most skin issues are better since GF abut still has atheletes foot, sweaty hands, asthma - what do you recommend for her? THank you!!

Thank you for tuning into today's HouseCall and be sure to join us tomorrow for Part 2!

Very few nutritional supplements have as much scientific backing as omega-3 fats…

In fact, they are so well researched even conventional medicine has gotten in on it and created a prescription drug that contains omega-3 fatty acid's.

The problem is that not all omega-3's are created equal and it's not always a parent who is suffering from an omega-3 deficiency versus in omega six overload from their diet…

It may seem trivial to talk about whether you're breathing into your chest or your belly, but believe it or not, it can make an enormous difference...

Belly breathing literally provides more than 3x the oxygen of chest breathing, which means every cell in your body and brain will be that much more energized...

This extra oxygen can help improve brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, depression, join pain, inflammation, and much more!

Jul 23, 2017

We're back with day 2 of the Cabral HouseCall and I'm looking forward to sharing with you some brand new questions that have come in over the past few weeks!

Let's get started with today's Q&A!

Jennett: Hello Dr. Cabral, I sent you a message about a week ago asking about why Im having a hard time losing some weight around my hips, legs and why I cannot get rid of my cellulite on the front and back side of my thighs. I realized I hadn't told you much about my body type and thought it might help in order for you to have a better idea of what might be going on. I am in my early 40's and weigh around 135 but I seem to have more fat than muscle tone and Ive always battled cellulite and estrogen dominance. I went to a natrapathic doctor when I received the estrogen dominance diagnosis and he put me on some supplements that balanced me out and that was about two years ago but I notice I do have extra weight on my thighs and butt as well as a little on my stomach (muffin top) I definitely don't have all the symptoms I had such as low thyroid, constant heart palpitations, night sweats, adrenal fatigue, etc. Though I still experience a few symptoms like breakouts when I drink coffee more than a couple times a week, I don't sleep through the night or feel rested when I wake and as soon as I lay down, my nose gets stuffy and I have little to no sex drive. I'm a mesomorph, pear shape body type and type O blood so I don't know if what I eat plays into any of that and with so many diets out there. its overwhelming to know where to start. Thank you for all of your help!! I am so grateful for what you do! Jen

Anonymous: Hi, I recently did your SIBO & Candida protocol with fantastic results. I'm now one month into your gut healing products and suddenly I'm experiencing the severe stomach bloat again. I'm considering your food sensitivity test but there's so much information from various trusted resources that these types of tests aren't reliable. I've done many elimination diets and just can't seem to get conclusive results. Is there something unique about your food sensitivity test that makes it reliable? As a side note I also just submitted my labs for your thyroid test. Thank you so much for your help!

Anonymous: Hello again! I seem to have many upper GI issues: reflux, indigestion, nausea, upper GI pain that when bad enough I vomit. This vomiting is usually brought on by large amounts of food or multiple types of food in one sitting. I also have gas, belching, bloating, but no issues with constipation or diarrhea. Blood and breath test ruled out h.pylori and Stool test ruled out parasites. According to your TWT shows on leaky gut, the only culprit left is SIBO. With most of my issues located in my upper abdominal region, does it mean the bacterial overgrowth is mostly in my upper GI, possibly stomach? Or could it be gallbladder issues? I'm seeing a naturopath and she put me on the GI pathogen purge from systemic formulas but also gave me 500 billion CFU probiotic packets with many different stains that I took for the first week during the pathogen purge. I understand that this is something that many practitioners tend to do but shouldn't. Could that possibly be why my SIBO seemed to clear up but 3 months later I'm getting these symptoms all over again. Thanks for your help, you are amazing and I deeply appreciate your passion to help everyone you can.

Tracey: I am 4 months pregnant. I just listened to your pregnancy podcast. What daily protocol should I be taking. Thanks for your help.

Anonymous: Hi Stephen, could you do a podcast on low stomach acid and how best to heal it? I have read how it causes all these other problems that I have been dealing with; dry skin, adrenal fatigue, autoimmune (hypothyroid)... I drink a glass of lemon water most mornings and it almost instantly makes my stomach feel more settled but other than that and maybe taking digestive enzymes before meals (could you recommend a good one?) is there anything else that can significantly help? and how long should it approximately take for this to heal? Thanks for your awesomeness :)

Lindsey: Hello, I had a question about two specialty supplements that I wanted to purchase. I recently heard Dr. Cabral's podcast pertaining to how to heal a leaky gut. I decided I wanted to complete his entire protocol to heal any problems I may have with my microbiome. From what I understand, his program starts with wiping out first the H. Pylori, parasites, yeast and bacteria, and then begin repairing and replenishing with his daily gut repair supplements and daily probiotics. So my question is, can I use the healthy belly supplement to wipe out h. Pylori and the parasite protocol supplements at the same time? Or must they be done separately? Thank you, Lindsey

Lindsey: Hi Stephen, I am writing back as I feel I have received different responses by yourself and the support group and I want to try and clear things up. I have the candida protocol at home ready to start, I wrote in a week ago regarding if I could continue my supplements as I have recently been through some lab testing for my hormones and I have been put on the below; Douglas Labs Ultra Preventive III w/ copper Douglas Labs B-Complex - Douglas Labs DHEA 25mg - Douglas Labs Glutathione Plus - Douglas Labs Zinc Picolinate (50mg) - Douglas Labs Ultra I-3-C - The support email I contacted say absolutely no supplements can be taken whilst doing the protocol, however you on the house call said all was fine to take. The reason I ask for example there are foods to avoid like cauliflower on the list when doing the 12 week plan but it is in the I3C and daily fruit and veg blend I want to continue. I also want to continue with maca powder, acai, flaxseed, etc? Please can you clarify before i begin? I am sorry for writing in again but I am sure but you appreciate that with the money and effort that goes into these protocols I want to make sure I do it right. I'm excited to get started. Thanks!!\

Thank you for tuning into day's Q&A and I hope you enjoyed all the tips added in along the way!

Jul 22, 2017

Welcome to day 1 of the Cabral HouseCalls!

As always we have some amazing questions that have come in from our community and we're going to cover so much related to wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging, so let's get started!

Here are today's questions:

Sabreena: Hi Dr.Cabral, can't thank you enough for sharing your wealth of knowledge with all of us listeners. Your podcast is so valuable! Over the past year i have been getting frequent UTI symptoms that will pop up and then go away within a few hours. (drinking alkaline water often contributed to the frequency) i am mostly plant based and health conscious, but i didn't think much of it until i started to see small red and dry spots showing up on my skin!!! it led me to connect the clues! i was on birth control for 10 years and recently got off and definitely have some of the symptoms often attributed to an unhealthy gut or unbalanced microflora. my friends tell me not to self diagnose but i have come to realize that i may have a yeast or candida overgrowth?! i am going to get your candida protocol but i wanted to check and get your input before i made the big purchase. thank you so much for giving all your listeners the hope we need to get through these health battles big and small! can't wait to get your feedback.

Derek: Hi Dr. Cabral. I've been watching your podcasts for a while now and they've been really informative both for myself and helping others. I've been doing a lot of research and studying on enlarged pores as it's still something I'm struggling with. Protein absorption, clay masks, collagen protein, and overall digestive health are all things that I believe can help, but I feel like I'm still missing something. Am I on the right track? Is there anything else you would recommend? Thank you!

Stephanie: Hello! I have been an avid disciple of yours for several years now! So whenever I hear something that seems a little off or strange, I come to you first. A dear friend of mine is seeing a nutritionist that I recommended to her based on my personal experiences. I had an IgG blood test performed by this nutritionist who also helped me with a Magnesium and Vitamin D deficiency. They have been working together for a year now and the nutritionist told my friend not to bother to work out. She said that my friend does not produce testosterone, therefore cannot build muscle, which is why she cannot lose weight. She told her not to bother to lift weights because she has such little testosterone that she's essentially wasting her time. I am a trained health coach and like you I am constantly reading books, medical journals, etc., and found her comment to be very strange. I was taught that lifting weights was actually a natural way to build testosterone, but my friend says the nutritionist has her taking a cream instead. In the year they've been working together my friend has actually gained 10 lbs and is more miserable than before. She had an IgG blood test and avoids the foods that cause her inflammation. She also has Candida and has admitted that she's not been really great with treating that (she's a bonified sugar addict). I am just wondering if the nutritionist is correct, or if she's just trying to keep my friend coming in for the $150 a month office visit (she's also a chiropractor) and the large profit margins on her supplements, or if there is any truth to her statment? Your thoughts?

Michelle: Hello again Dr. Cabral! You continue to amaze me with all of your knowledge and thank you so much for sharing it so selflessly! We all appreciate it more than you know. I'm not sure if you have seen this product but wanted your thoughts on it -- the Pocco Grill Mat. It's used to "protect" your food on the grill or smoker but I would use it more as a way to cook smaller items, like vegetables without them falling through. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks as always and stay well, Michelle

Julie: Hi, I'm looking to purchase The Parasite Clease and Candida & Bacterial overgrowth Protocols then follow with The Healthy Gut Support! :) My questions are... Can the Parasite Cleanse and Candida Protocol be done at the same time? I have Graves disease with a Total Thyroidectomy, currrently on NDT and T3 mediation, I'm also trying to address a fatty Liver, Iow Iron, Adrenal issues ect... Will these products have any adverse effects? Many Thanks Julie

Lene: Hi, I just started listening to your podcast all the way from Norway, and I especially enjoy the mindset and motivation ones. As a matter of fact I just got twins three moths ago, and I listen to you podcast whenever we are out on a stroll. I cant see that you have covered these topics before, but I might just have missed it. I know this is a topic only relevant to half the population, but I still would appreciate it! So, I was only pregnant for 7 months before they decided to arrive with c-section. During my whole pregnancy I struggled with pelvic girdle pain, but this is gone now. Except from this the pregnancy was normal, and I didnt gain more than 5 kilos. After however, living at the hospital for a month, I ate only processed foods, and all around the clock, so I am now 80 kg and 165 cm. As many others I am eager to come back in shape. I used to exercise two-three times a week, and I had a relatively healthy lifestyle. However, I have the tendency to be jo-jo dieter (always in attempt to change my lifestyle, by eating less and training more (mostly free weights at gym). To put it this way: It wasnt a bad-bad lifestyle, and I wasnt in bad shape, but I guess I was over eating sometimes, and I just wanted to get to the next level. No fitness contest type of thing you know, but just feeling good in a bikini without holding my stomack in. I have decided this time to be more active in my everyday life. I am out with the babies every day for a two hour stroll, always wearing gym clothes and carrying all the gear/stroller four flights of stears. And I LOVE it! To me pregnancy felt like a prison and I must say I dont remember it as a nice experience, even though I am SO happy with the product! I dont expect to get fit over night. You focus a lot on routines (and that has opened my eyes - I wish I had heard your podcast before), but as you know this is hard with small kids, especially with twins I guess (In Norway we are blessed with a great health system, so I am of work with pay for a year). I dont sleep much, I dont have regular meals. I was hoping you would talk about this: How does one start out again after pregnancy to get in shape? When can one really start to lift weights again after a c-section? What foods should you choose and what especially does the body need in this period of post surgery and little sleep? Also, I have hired a personal trainer for ten hours to come - when would be the best time to start these meetings to get the most out of them? Should I wait until I get well enough to really do a hard work out? Finally: Thank you for sharing your advice and experience on your podcast! I am sorry for the long letter, I am not good at keeping it short :)

Ross: Hi Stephen, I have recently returned from vacation in Italy and while away I picked up a stomach virus which resulted in me having diarrhoea, it has been 10 days since and I am slowly returning to fitness. I would consider myself to follow a relatively healthy diet and fitness regime but I am regularly ill when I travel, both vacation and work, within the last 12 months I have been ill at least 3 times (sickness/diarrhoea). I think this is not helped by difficulty in eating like I do when at home. My fiancée Lisa regularly listens to your show and suggested that I write in and see what you suggest by way of tests / protocols. I am very keen to solve this so that I can travel normally.

Thank you for tuning into today's Q&A and be sure to check back tomorrow as we cover day 2 of our community questions!

On today's #FridayReview I'm excited to share with you an intestinal cleanse protocol I "affectionately" refer to as the "Clean Colon Power Pack..."

It grabs onto and removes bacteria, parasites, and decaying fecal matter from infecting the rest of your body...

It's also excellent for occasional constipation, as well as during and after a Candida, SIBO, or Parasite protocol to remove any die-off...

Today, I also share one of my favorite "old school" doctor's of all time and one of his books on "proper bowel management."

Eventually you're going to hit your limit...

We all do, and when that happens our body becomes inflamed, sore, and run down...

Although this can be caused by a toxic environment, eating the wrong foods, stress, pharmaceutical drugs, or some other reason, the easiest example to see of inflammation overload is when we workout...

Although exercise is essential for a healthy, strong functioning body, it still does create tissue breakdown and inflammation...

However, how we deal with that inflammation is the key to feeling energized versus exhausted...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 531 for how to flush out inflammation & sore muscles - Enjoy the show!

There are some health issues that most people don't like to discuss...

They get a little shy talking about them. But, if you don't share everything with your holistic doctor or health coach, they can't fully help you solve your current imbalances...

This is why I ask everyone I see in my practice if they are having at least 1 healthy, unforced, bowel movement per day...

If this isn't happening, the likelihood of getting completely well or losing the weight is low...

There are many reasons why I say this, but simply put your 28 feet of digestive tract holds the key to your long-term health and if it isn't functioning optimally it's going to affect every other system in your body...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 530 for how to cure constipation and regulate your digestive tract to achieve the health, wellness, and weight loss you may desire - Enjoy the show!

It's happened to at least one person you know...

At one point or another you go on vacation or out to dinner and someone gets violently sick...

They're throwing up. They have diarrhea. And, they literally can't hold down any food or liquids...

This of course is a great cause for concern and something needs to be done ASAP...

Luckily, if you know the fix before it happens you'll always know how to treat the condition and not just the symptoms...

Although I'm a big believer in goal setting, sometimes we can take it too far...

Many of us are prone to setting big goals - Some of which won't even be achieved for months or years into the future...

And while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it can leave you feeling like a failure or light years away from your goal on a day to day basis...

This is why we need to have a better practice set up in our daily life for measuring our success or we're always going to feel unsatisfied with our life...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 528 to discover how to stop feeling so overwhelmed and instead start being happier and more relaxed in your every day life - Enjoy the show!

Thank you for checking back in for our 2nd #CabralConcept of the weekend!

We'll be answering more of our community's questions today, so let's get started:

Angela: Hi Dr. Cabral, I would like to start by thanking you for everything that you do! Your daily podcasts have changed my health and life in many ways and a simple thank you just isn't enough. My question is regarding my inability to find balance. I have a very binge-like lifestyle. I can be dedicated to 21 days of only low glycemic foods while following the Dr. Cabral Detox meal plan. I also stay active with a balanced workout plan, and many other nutrition tips and staples you have suggested. BUT THEN... a holiday will come about or I find myself in a situation where I can not stop eating deliciously poisonous foods (and drinking beer!!). I was wondering if you have any tips or tricks you have used with clients before that help them finally achieve a balanced lifestyle? Are there any systematic approaches you use like getting off of caffeine or any mindfulness hacks of some sort? Anything helps! Thank you

Lauren: Hi Steve, Unfortunately, My grandma a few months ago was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Being that it is such a terrible cancer that is hard to detect, can you please recommend which blood tests or biomarkers my father(her son) should be getting? I really want him to go to a functional doctor and get a variety of tests but, I was hoping for some direction. He works a very stressful non-stop job as a chef/owner and is very thin as he never takes a break even to eat at times throughout the day. Now with my grandma's cancer & the history of cancer in that side of the family, I want to make sure I stay on top of his health and figure out what he should get tested for to see if he carries that gene mutation etc. Lastly, where would one go for this kind of testing? We live in LI close to NYC Thank you!

Priscilla: Hi Dr. Cabral, I love listening to your podcasts and feel like each one has something applicable to me! My question is: I already know I have parasites, but I am 12 weeks pregnant and I know some of the herbs typically used to get rid of them are not safe during pregnancy. Is there anything I can do while I'm pregnant? I appreciate your suggestions and guidence so much. Thank you!

Gina: I would like to do the Healthy Belly, Parasite Cleanse Protocol and the Candida & Bacterial Complete Protocol. Can I do them all at once or do I need to start with Healthy Belly followed by Parasite Cleanse and lastly the Candida & Bacterial Complete Protocol? Thank you, Gina

Eva: Hello Dr. Cabral, I am studying holistic nutrition and your podcasts are inspiring to me! My question is: My recent check up showed I have very high Thyroglobulin Antibodies (421) and very high Thyroperoxidase Antibodies (186), although my TSH, T3 and T4 are within normal ranges. In addition my vitamin D and ferritin is low (I plan on starting supplements) and my Neutrophils are low. I also have inflammation (which manifests as heat and pain) in both my knuckles. Are any of these related? My doctor said they don't treat high thyroid antibodies since my thyroid hormones are normal, but I have been reading conflicting opinions. What would you suggest for me? (My diet is fairly healthy, I don't eat meat or dairy but I do eat gluten) Thank you soooo much Dr. Cabral I will continue to listen to your podcast religiously it has become my daily routine.

Claudia Keiran: Dear Dr. Cabral thank you so much for your wonderful work try to help folks in need like me. I was diagnosed with Thyroiditis ( Hashimotto) 2014. Spend money that I don't have I am a immigrant from Brasil and I am a house cleaner. So I did follow and buy products from differents folks that I this point is worthless to say names even though you may know all them. I understand and been very honest that we need to survive and use wellness and diseases for this purposes but I can't afford anymore. I heard you episode 515 about Athi Pilory ( don't know to write) bacteria and I need help a serious one, I can't sleep, losing my memory , work out, do yoga , eat clean, no dairy, no gluten, no sugar and I gain and lose weight and I lot of fatigue. I take vitamins, real live probiotics, magnesium, zinc, glucosamine, digestives enzymes, omega. I don't know what else I can do and don't get better. I agree with you about the bacteria if you don't kill won't get better. So do you think you really can help me?! Please answer me. Thank you so much . I appreciate all your work not only for me if we work together but for others too.

I hope you enjoyed today's show and be sure to check back in tomorrow for our Motivation & Mindset Monday!

Jul 15, 2017

Welcome to another weekend of the Cabral HouseCalls!

I'm excited to share with you our community Q&A and many other tips we add in along the way...

Here are today's questions:

Asheley: Hi Dr. Cabral, I enjoy listening to your podcast. I am interested in purchasing a lab test, specifically the Hormone & Adrenal Package or the Organic Acids Test, or both and eventually other tests. I recently took a blood test and found out that I have mild anemia, and my thyroid is on the low side of normal. My menstrual cycle is very irregular. My period can last for about 2 weeks with a lot of spotting for days, and a few days of consistently heavy bleeding with clots. I have fibrocystic breasts, so I avoid caffeine when I can and the pain has diminished. I have skin problems as well including acne on my shoulders and back, hyperpigmentation from acne scars on my face, back, and shoulders, some eczema between my fingers, and an occasional boil/carbuncle on my back. I have considered the gaps diet but I don't know where to start. It seems difficult to start and maintain a gaps diet. My CBC lab results are: WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT - My Value: 6.7 Thousand/uL Standard Range: 3.8 ‐ 10.8 Thousand/uL RBC - My Value: 4.23 Million/uL Standard Range: 3.80 ‐ 5.10 Million/uL Hemoglobin - My Value: 11.1 g/dL Standard Range: 11.7 ‐ 15.5 g/dL (My Hemoglobin value is slightly low) Hematocrit - My Value: 35.6 % Standard Range: 35.0 ‐ 45.0 % MCV - My Value: 84.2 fL Standard Range: 80.0 ‐ 100.0 fL MCH - My Value: 26.2 pg Standard Range: 27.0 ‐ 33.0 pg (My MCH value is Low) MCHC - My Value: 31.2 g/dL Standard Range: 32.0 ‐ 36.0 g/dL (My MCHC is Low) RDW - My Value: 14.0 % Standard Range: 11.0 ‐ 15.0 % Platelets - My Value: 216 Thousand/uL Standard Range: 140 ‐ 400 Thousand/uL MPV - My Value: 12.8 fL Standard Range: 7.5 ‐ 12.5 fL My TSH Results: TSH, 3RD GENERATION 1.58 mIU/L mIU/L Reference Range > or = 20 Years 0.40‐4.50 I am a 25(almost 26) year old female and I am not pregnant. My Free T4 Results are: Free T4 - My Value: 0.9 ng/dL Standard Range: 0.8 ‐ 1.8 ng/dL From my symptoms and lab results I know I have mild anemia, and I probably have estrogen dominance or hormonal imbalance and candida overgrowth or imbalanced gut flora. My questions are: Which lab test should I order first? For the Hormone and Adrenal test, when do I take the test? My menstrual cycle is so irregular that I do not know consistently when is 5-7 days before Day 1 of my Cycle. Can I just take it any day that I am not on my period? What foods and supplements do you suggest for balancing my hormones? Thank you for your help

Lizbeth: Hi, I've noticed that my body reacts negatively to green tea with stomach cramps, constipation, inflammation etc. Do you know why this is possible, and what can I replace green tea with? I'm trying to stay away from coffee. Plus, I've heard all of the good properties it has, but my body seems to hate me when I use it. Thank you for all the information you are providing. I've learned so much, and I'm still learning much more from you. I'm even listening to all your old podcasts from the beginning! Thank you, thank you thank you!!!!

Thomas: Hello Dr. Cabral Love your show. As I get into my 40's I have noticed more and more white spots on my skin popping up. Especially on the arms. Is there anything that can be done about that or is it just what happens as you get older? Can it be reversed? Thanks

Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral, What is your opinion on oxolates and the excessive consumption of dark, leafy greens? My diet is heavy with the daily consumption of green smoothies and juices, and salads with bitter greens, and cooked greens. Is this something that should be concerning? Also, what is your opinion on alkaloids? I rotate my greens weekly to avoid over consumption. Should this be concerning, as well? Many thanks!

Bettina: Hi, Thanks for all your amazing help. I did your 21 day detox about a month ago and it was life changing. I thought I was healthy before doing it so didn't know what to expect, and you exceeded my expectations. My body has even more energy and my brain seems so much clearer. So to continue this amazing feeling I now do your shake in the morning and the greens powder too. But I am experiencing a problem that really needs some help. I've been taking the greens powder and shake every morning for the last 3 weeks. About 2 weeks ago I started having horrible gas problems. I know its not the shake because I never had that while on the detox. Previous to the detox I ate a very plant based diet and eat no gluten. One of the things I did find amazing since going off gluten a couple of years ago and sticking to a plant based (with protein at night) diet was how little gas I created. But now it was returned to the point that the smell is waking me up at night (and unfortunately my husband too). I find that legumes give me gas too so I never do them, now or prior to the detox. I so want to continue taking the greens powder but do you think maybe it's tipped me over in the amount of vegetables I'm consuming? I have been having loose stools too since taking it. Please let me know what I should do. I haven't been taking a probiotic but do eat fermented vegetables regularly. Do you think that could help. thanks,

Annie: Hi Dr Cabral! I have been on a health journey for a little over a year now and although I have seen improvements, I still have some chronic issues that I’d love to get your thoughts on bc I seem to be plateaued & although I'm in a better place, I'm not symptom free. A little background, just so you know what I have already addressed. I have run multiple CBCs and urine metabolite tests. I was very estrogen dominant and had high cortisol due to over training, but both have been balanced since. Chronic issues in my CBC – high glucose (95), high LDL cholesterol (142) and low HDL (56), high total protein (7.6), high globulin (4), low Alkaline Phosphatase (35), low LDH (70), low hemoglobin (13), MCV (90), RDW (13). Sorry for the overkill with data, but I have been running blood labs for a year every 3 months and these are the standard issues I’m seeing, regardless of supplement intervention. Apart from the numbers, I have physical symptoms that are driving my search still. I have skin issues – acne, melasma, and the backs of my arms are flushed, slightly bumpy. I have a little bit of stubborn belly fat and some digestive discomfort still, even when eating to the Sensitive Gut protocol. I am on week 9 of the Yeast & Bacteria Cleanse and have seen decrease in bloating and some belly fat, but not sure SIBO/Candida is 100% my problem. My belly gurgles and almost always have a little bit of gas after I eat a full meal. I have regular, healthy bowel movements, 1-2 daily. I’ve stuck to the program, so I’ve been gluten, dairy & sugar free for over two months now. I’ve done the 7 day detox and have added detox efforts to my lifestyle. I have cleaned up the products in my home, eat organic whenever possible. I’m almost to the point of accepting and appreciating my health for what it is, because in all honesty, I have much to be grateful for, but I still feel like I haven’t hit the nail on the head just yet. I plan to run your Organic Acids Test when I’m through with the gut protocol. I’m also curious about EBV (I had mono in high school but don’t really have any chronic symptoms), parasites & food sensitivities. Do you think any of my symptoms warrant a different test? Thanks so much for all that you do for our community. You are a mentor to all of us without ever meeting us, and I’m so grateful for the influence you have in my life. I’ve reviewed the podcast and am constantly sharing links with anyone I think it can help. I look forward to learning from you & appreciate you so much!
