Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral :) This podcast is my favourite thing of the day.. I listen to it while preparing my lemon water and smoothie in the morning :) Which brings me to my question(/-s).. I usually make a huge smoothie with everything you can think of (frozen berries, leafy greens, protein powder and then lots of herbs and spices, mushroom powders, ginger & turmeric root, etc. It comes out pretty big so I started freezing half of it for the days I don’t have the time to make it.. does freezing & then defrosting destroy all the good benefits of all these ingredients which are blended together? My second question about it is, even though I eat quite a big bowl of it, I still feel quite hungry and shaky after it.. like I don’t have energy in my muscles to do any real movement or exercise.. that feeling sometimes stays with me for most of the day or until I eat something solid (which usually makes me feel bloated or uncomfortable in the stomach).. is this weird, considering I do use healthy fats and proteins and carbs in the smoothie (and it’s a really big amount of it)? Thank you so much for your answers and everything you do.. much love to you, your family and everyone in this community..

Lara: Hi, dr. Cabral :) One more smoothie related question: I usually eat an apple after my smoothie.. is that ok or should I eat an apple before the smoothie? And how much time before or after? I usually also have some DRIED berries every day (blueberries, cranberries, goji berries, etc.) I remember you’ve said dried fruit isn’t the best, but I’m not sure why.. is it the same for dried berries? Thank you so much.. again :)

Anonymous: Hi, dr. Cabral! I’ve been a listener for a year and a half now and enjoy all the different types of shows you do. Since you are really into Ayurveda and spirituality of sorts, I was wondering if you have heard of Human Design yet? It is a holistic self-knowledge system combining astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah and Vedic philosophy. It would be really interesting if you would do an episode about it or maybe even an interview with an expert on it.. I’ve only heard about it last Christmas but since then met lots of people that found great help in knowing themselves better through it, alleviating conditioning by society and overall starting to accept themselves better because of understanding oneself. Including me. Hope you find it interesting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

Darren: Good day Dr. Cabral. I got excited when I saw CNN with the news headline "Eating fat can lower stroke risk, study says, as long as it's the right kind" https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/09/health/fat-stroke-risk-wellness/index.html but got disappointed as the article went on. The American Heart Association director & senior scientist went on to promote liquid vegetable oils corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, which are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, and monosaturated like canola oil. How does one tell their family, coworkers, clients and friends to stay away from those plant based oils when the AHA, of all people, are promoting them?

Darren: Hey Dr. Cabral. I've been wondering, do you still maintain your weekly fast since you've embarked on the muscle gaining journey or do you put it on hold to attain that current goal? Also have you noticed any drastic pros or drawbacks since you began? Keep up great work.

Anonymous: What's the reason for accelerated heart rate after meals? No change in diet. All the same. I've started experiencing heart palpitations and accelerated heart rate and sometimes even twitches after my meals. Even with smoothies. It happens the moment I put something in my stomach. Really weird.

Anonymous: Hi Doc! Words cannot describe how grateful I'm that I found you a few years ago. You have helped me in so many ways, and still are! I have a question about HSP's or Highly Sensitive Person’s. I'm one if them, however, I'm not balanced YET in my mind and body. So my question would be, is there an underlying physical root cause behind the reason people become HSP's? Is it something that will go away after rebalancing the body and mind? I don't talk for others HSP's, but at least in my self, I can se patterns of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Is there a connection between HSP's and ASD? I would love to hear your viewpoint of this specific topic.

Anonymous: Hi Doc, I'm an IHP level 1 & 2 certified. I did all labs and all protocols accordingly and maintain a healthy routine based on the destress protocol. I was doing very well until I travelled to South America and started experiencing a lot of anxiety. The anxiety is worse after I eat, especially breakfast. I'm not sure what happened. The breakfast didn't change as I took all of the ingredients from home (except oats which I bought local GF oats) and my supplement protocol remained the same. I even stopped all supplements to see if that would change anything but anxiety, especially heart palpitations is still very much present and as I said, get's very bad after meals. I didn't have this before travelling and I'm not experiencing any digestive issues whatsoever. No bloating, gas, pain, nothing. It's just this shortness of breath, heart palpitations that is driving me insane. I've been eating the same breakfast for ages (banana, DNS, GF oats, nuts/seeds) with no issues but maybe I've developed an allergy to one of those suddenly? If it isn't a food allergy what could it be? I also get it after lunch (not as bad) as breakfast though. Dinner is less but still present.

Anonymous: Hi Doc, me again. Forgot to mention that when this anxiety started, I've been having a lot of random body twitches and been very sensitive to external sounds. Funnily enough, it get's better when I'm around people and having a conversation so basically whenever I'm distracted. It get's really bad when I'm by myself (for example, when I'm on my laptop) and focused on something. Would you say that this could be a symptom of the anxiety? Have you ever come across someone having these twitches from anxiety? Or could this be something more serious?

Anthony: Hi Dr Cabral, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank you for doing what you do, so thank you! Onto my question but first a little background. I’m a new RN and just accepted a job working from 7p - 7a, 3 days per week (the days I work every week will vary). I’m married with two children and suspect I’ll be on a day schedule during my days off. Besides ensuring good sleep hygiene and optimal nutrition what are some actions I can take to ensure proper sleep and switch between days and nights? For instance, when trying to sleep after working nights should I use your sleep supplements before bed even though it’ll be around 8:30am? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Gemma: Hi. Each time I have done a detox at a health retreat, I get excruciatingly painful cramps in my hamstrings and sometimes in my lower back too. Nothing seems to help them - unless it’s paracetamol which I had to resort to once just to get some sleep! I’m wondering what might be causing the cramping? And how I can avoid for my first Dr Cabral detox, which I’m starting soon? And - if they do come back - any suggestions you may have for treating the pain? Many thanks!

Lisa: Hello! Love your podcast and everything you do for the community. My father who is in late 50s has been diagnosed with MDS. He found out through a routine blood test and then subsequent bone marrow test and was shocked to learn he has MDS as he feels well. What are his options moving forward, what would you recommend? The doctors have put him on injections every 3 weeks to boost red blood cells count.

Francisco: Hello Dr. Cabral! I hope you had a lovely day so far. My question is related to multivitamins. I've heard so much controversy on this specific topic and there are so many individuals that state that multivitamins made from whole foods are the only multi vitamins that really work. That is why they're more expensive because they're the only ones that the body truly absorbs. This means that I've been taking a synthetic form of vitamins for years! For example, ascorbic acid for vitamin C, methylcobalamin as B12, etc. Apparently these are all synthetic so not absorbed and I should look for a whole food vitamin instead. What are your thoughts?

Victor: I was listening to a house call and you mentioned how you don’t recommend straight curcumin on a daily basis. I’ve been taking 500mg of curcumin with bioperine as part of my daily foundational protocol on top of DNS, omega-3pm, vitamin D, magnesium, vit C, zinc etc. I don’t have inflammation but I just take it to optimise my health. What are your thoughts?

Lindsey: Hello Dr. Cabral. I hope you are having an amazing day. Your podcast archive is always where I turn to when a friend is dealing with anything health related. I was surprised recently when I couldn't find a podcast talking about Guillain-Barré syndrome. Can you shed any light on this and possible ways to heal the root cause? You are much appreciated!

Don: Recently, my tongue began burning throughout the day as if it is being continually scalded by boiling water. I have been told that Burning Mouth Syndrome may go away on its own in 3-5 years. Are there any other options which could give a quicker resolution? Thank you for the podcast and all you do to help others.

Alina: I’m going to join all the others in thanking your for the work you do for the health community and for my own education! I have been struggling with SIBO for a few years and finally now on the CBO protocol. I recently have learned about food combining and food layering. I have listened to all your podcasts on it but still have a few specific questions. Are nut butters or protein bars with nut butters easier to digest than nuts in whole form? What protein will food combine well with oatmeal, quinoa, or rice? I see only carbohydrates and proteins pair well with vegetables (and carbohydrates with fats/oils as well). I love oatmeal but have heard it’s important to have protein in each meal. I’m unsure how to do this with proper food combining. Also, should salads with a protein (like fish or eggs) not have dressing on it since protein does not pair with oils? What combines well with hemp hearts? Thanks I’m advance! P.S. I would ask your support team but I don’t see an option unless you have Facebook?

Mary: I never used to have scalp issues and about 3 years ago I began to get really bad folliculitis. I've tried antibiotics, I've cut out sugar, gluten, dairy and meat and still have terrible bouts of folliculitis that results in huge pus filled welts that are painful and itchy. Not sure what is causing it or why.

Katie: Hey Dr. Cabral! I know you've reviewed cookware before and I was wondering your thoughts on Le Creuset. They're not "nontoxic" but the stoneware and cast iron seems to be made of good materials. What do you think, and how can we know if pots/pans are made of high-quality, trustworthy materials?

Gemma: Hi Dr Cabral. Thanks so much for the wealth of information you provide - it has empowered me to make significant positive changes in my health. I have been told by two different Ayurvedic doctors that I am tridoshic. My own personal take on it (with full awareness that this may not be accurate!) is that I have a vata mind, a pitta voice and heart and a kapha body. Is this possible? And do you have any specific tips for tridoshics to stay in balance? Many thanks.

Christine: Hi Dr Cabral, Thank you for everything you do to help the whole world reach their health goals. I have learned so much about myself in terms of my own health and I am so excited to try your 21 day detox. I do have a question regarding the efficacy (and safety) of a heavy metal detox system called TRS detox spray. I did use this a few years ago in myself (for 6 months) and was thinking of trying it on my 5 year old son who is on the spectrum, but I’d love to hear your opinion first! Thanks so much!

Marie: Hi Doc! I am always so relieved to have this option of consulting such an amazing expert as yourself. My question is about my eyelids. One of my eyes (left side) sits lower than the other one and is more downturned. I have begun to notice that this increases a lot after a night of drinking alcohol. On those days I can even feel the difference in my eye and the asymmetry is very visible as well. Having researched a little I see that this may be called ptosis and was wondering what the reason might be and what I could do about it? Drinking less alcohol is obviously an option but I am concerned that this may be an indication of something more serious. Thank you for your help! Marie

Mary: I am addicted to your podcast! YOU are awesome. Thank you for all that you do. I have swim team Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:20-9:20pm (only time we can get pool time). I don't know what to do regarding post w.o. nutrition and sleep. I get home around 10:30pm. That's quite late to eat and still get to bed at a decent hour if i'm waiting 2-3 hours after i eat to go to bed for ease of digestion and good sleep. Is it best not to eat and go to sleep at a decent hour or is it best to eat some soup or broth (something easy to digest)? Is there something i can consume and go to bed about an hour later? I considered a smoothie but i put both fruits and veggies in my smoothie for taste purposes and that probably has too much sugar in it before bed? Please advise. Thank you!

Dhanvi: Respected sir I am Dhanvi and I am 15 years old I love your podcast now I want to ask you some doubts 1. If due the stimulus an electrical impulse is created how can something like electricity travel from one neuron to thousand neuron without any loss of energy just with the help of chemicals called neurotransmitter 2.I actually know how sensory receptor in the ear creates an impulse but not sure how it carries the information when someone teaches someone something 3. We studied control and coordination chapter this year but despite this I am still not able to understand how an organ like brain can do amazing process called thinking how does it think !

Nicolo: I have noticed that my cuts take a long time to heal. Not the clotting part but just seems to take a lokng time to be fully healed.

Summer: Hi Dr Cabral! I recently found your podcast and have been bingeing episodes, they are such a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for what you do! I had a baby in July of 2020, an emergency c section after being in labor for almost 3 days. Ever since birth I feel like my body is holding onto a lot of inflammation. I know a c section is a major surgery so it would take a while to heal, but now being 15 months postpartum I am getting very discouraged I will never look the way I did before again. I am already gluten and dairy free - and did a poop test with X Company and have cut out those foods as well (most cruciferous vegetables/nuts/beans etc). I am at a loss as to what could be going on. I workout fairly regularly, drink lots of water and eat relatively healthy. Could this be parasite or mold related? Or is my body holding on to weight because I am still breastfeeding? How do I go about figuring out how to get back to my body pre baby? Thank you for the advice! - Summer

I am not referring to seed cycling but just general foods. As I have listened to your seed cycling podcast, but could not find any of other foods. Thank you so much

Audrey: Hi Dr Cabral. My 2 month old daughter has a sub glottic hemangioma that was blocking 60% of her airway. The dermatologist and ENT have her on Propanolol and want her to be on it for the next 6 months. I hate the thought of my young daughter being on heart medication. Eventually these stop growing when she is 1 year old but since it’s in her airway, we can’t take any chances. Is there an alternative treatment I could be giving her? I am nursing her as well, so anything I could be taking to help her? Thank you so much

Kristen: Hello! For the first time my almost five year old has had a fall allergy this year. He has a cough from something. He also has an allergy to egg and wheat. He has never been in antibiotics, was breastfed, and fights off viruses quickly when he does get sick. His dad has seasonal allergies and a few food sensitivities, so there is a genetic predisposition. What can I do for him that will help him get out of following down the same road? I know any type of strict detox is unrealistic for a young child. Thank you.

Morgan: Hi! Love your recent podcasts on gut health. I have been struggling with gut health issues for years and trying to figure it out with conventional medicine only, which has failed me unfortunately. What do I do if I tested and I have parasites, SIBO, candida overgrowth and H. pylori? Where does one even start when you have ALL these things?! Please let me know, I am so lost on where to begin!

Holly: Hi Dr. Cabral, thank you for being such an inspiration and source of knowledge; you've transformed my health and now helping me transform my families too! My youngest son aged 3.5 often sleeps with his mouth open (breathing through it rather than his nose) I've heard you mention this isnt good and wondered 1. Why? 2. How I can make him a nose breather (if that's possible)? I also hear him grinding his teeth often in his sleep, is that something to worry about? Thanks again, Holly x

Anonymous: Hi Dr. C! Thanks again for all you do. I am doing the CBO and following it to a T. I did have a question as some of the food listed on your sensitive gut guide are "not approved" when it comes to removing or limiting traditional FODMAPs. For example asparagus, broccoli, beans, beets, watermelon, and squash. What is the difference in your plan vs that? I know you have a method to your madness but just curious on your variations. Are those foods not actually fermentable in our guts? Also as we reintroduce new foods down the road, what symptoms should we look for? Would they just be digestive disturbances since this is a gut protocol or would they mimic food sensitivity symptoms? Thanks again!!

Andrea: Hi! Thank you so much for answering my question! What is the minimum fat percentage you’d recommend for a woman? It seems like a very low fat percentage can sometimes cause hormonal dysfunction. Would you say 15% maybe?

Catherine: Can integrative medicine help people who suffer from arrhythmia?

Dar: I'm 39 years old and had low ferritin around 4. My specialist had a CT scan done and he noticed that one of my kidneys had shrunk quite a bit and believes only the one kidney is functioning but doing well. Is there anything I can do to try to regrow the shrunk kidney (most likely the MD said from a sports injury or since birth) I had told him I took a number of hits in physical sports growing up. Also what do you recommend for supplementing the remaining kidney with.

Maureen: Dear Dr. Cabral, Thank you for your amazing podcast. I look forward to it every day and have learned so many tips to improve my health. My question has to do with eating seeds. Every day, I put 2 Tablespoons Chia Seeds and 2 Tablespoons of Flax Seeds in the Daily Nutritional Shake. I blend this all up to make it easier to digest. I often eat Hemps Seeds later in the day for additional protein as well as pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds on my salad. Do you think this is too many seeds to eat in one day? Might I develop an allergy to them or is it hard on the digestive system to eat this many seeds?

Nadia: Dear Doctor Cabral, thank you so much for all you do to help the community and for your very interesting podcast! I would like to ask if you could indicate me in which direction we could look regarding my dad's health. He is 62 years old, 5feet7 and weighs now less then 125 pounds. He has always been thin (even though he eats 3 times more then the rest of the family) but muscular. But now he really has just skin on his bones even though he still eats a lot (and healthy). He goes to the bathroom at least once a day, sometimes after every meal, which is very good. And his blood work came back normal. He's been trying to gain weight for years but he just gets more and more skinnier and is pretty preoccupied. He is very active all day, always working around the house, in the garden, loves hiking and biking. A Nutritionist told him years ago that it will be impossible for him to gain weight and that it's much easier for overweight people to lose weight. Do you have any advice on how my dad could get to a normal weight again or what we should look at? Thanks so much for your time and help, Have a great day, Nadia

Erin: Vitamin c help!! Ok so i was told only to take food based vitamin c but all the other is synthetic and depletes copper....so can you please clear this up for me. I really appreciate it!!

Ryan: Hello! I have seen recently a somewhat controversial opinion on D3 supplementation and would like your opinion. Usually, I'd gloss over something like this, but considering the high reputation of the source in the functional/integrative space, I thought I'd get your highly valued opinion. Quote… "D3 is not what they measure in a vitamin D test. They measure 25D. The problem is, they should be measuring 1,25D, and better yet, the ratio between the two. Supplementing D3 will raise your 25D levels which shuts down your vitamin D receptors and innate immune system function. Supplementing D3 above what we naturally get in food will massively increase calcium absorption. In a hard-drinking water world, that causes hypercalcemia, magnesium and K2 deficiency.

Jamie: Hi Dr Cabral thank you for all you do. I have been listening for a very long time. I’ll try to keep this short as I did try to search if you have talked about this before but couldn’t find anything. I currently see a Dr who claims to be an integrative doctor local to me. I’m 33 year old female. I weigh around 130#. My symptoms have been thinning hair, nail fungus, zero libido, zero energy and pms 2 weeks prior to menstruating, (this has been for many years) increase of stress the past two years due to my job. . He did lab work and my thyroid levels are low, and vitamin d was low. He also told me that I should take Progesterone 100mg qhs for the pms symptoms / low energy. Long story short I’m taking t3/t4 15mcg daily (along with fish oil, vitamin d, b complex, magnesium from EquiLife) I had more lab work done recently and my IGF-1 is 208 (says it should be 280) and he is recommending Sermorelin therapy. I googled it and it sounds fantastic. All the things I need (energy, libido etc) but my question is being only 33 (no kids) is going to harm me in the long run taking these hormones? I know you can’t tell me to stop, I just need advice on really what this Sermorelin therapy is and if it is going to hurt me in the long run taking progesterone “forever”. Thank you

Andrea: My 9 year old daughter started menstruating this month. She is already taking a daily multivitamin, what other supplement would you advise her growing body would need to better support her during this stage?

Ryan: I know you're not a big fan of artificial sweeteners, but from what I've been able to find in the research, there seems to be many meta-analyses and RCTs, in humans, showing that there is no negative effect on bodyweight, glycemic variability or the microbiome, or that there is actually beneficial effects on bodyweight. Studies that show otherwise either seem to be in animals, or providing extremely large doses that would not be realistic for everyday life, or both. Is this a case of the science not being caught up to clinical practice and current times? Or is there definitive research showing the negative effects of artificial sweeteners in humans, in realistic doses? Would love if to hear your valued opinion on this. Thanks for all that you do!

Marianne: Hi Dr. Cabral, I love your show. My husband was diagnosed with PVC or Pulmonary Ventricular Contraction. He is on the medication Metoprolol to regulate his heartbeat. He's trying to reduce his stress at work and reduce his alcohol consumption. He drinks about 2 cups of coffee per day. Is there anything else he can do or take to help regulate the heartbeat without medication?

Anonymous: Huge fan of the podcast, I listen everyday! One topic I've never heard discussed is the use of anti-viral medications. I've heard a lot about antibiotics and the bad effects they can have on our guts, but I've never heard about anti-virals. The reason I ask, my 3 yr old has been taking low dose acyclovir daily for the past year to prevent frequently recurring cold sores. We think they picked this up from an extended family member or daycare, since nobody else in our family has ever had a cold sore. A year ago they were getting them about every other week. When one would show up, we'd immediately start acyclovir to knock it out quickly, but when we'd stop, another one would pop up a week or so later. We've also tried low arginine high lysine diet, which didn't seem to make much of a difference. I asked our pediatrician about taking a lysine supplement, but they didn't feel comfortable with that b/c of age. The low dose daily has worked really well for us, but now I'm concerned it may be causing other problems. Since early July, I've noticed hives about every other day on my child. They're mostly on the legs and torso, not huge, and they don't seem too bothersome, but I'm wondering if long term use of acyclovir could've caused this, thoughts? And any thoughts on daily lysine use?

Tony: Hi Dr C, I can’t find anything on your podcasts about amino acid BPC-157. Have asked your support team they said to ask here. Carpenter since a young boy, now in my 60s, used a lot of pressure on my knees for my job property developing, floor tiling etc, at one point (in my 50s) it was so bad I couldn’t get up off the floor; lucky enough found a fantastic acupuncturist which made it a lot better. Unfortunately can’t find him anymore. Job slowed down but knee pain got a lot worse, struggled to walk on my right knee, even considered knee replacement, prefer to avoid GPs, hospitals etc and go down an alternative route. My daughter had me on a decent turmeric/curcumin, MSM, Proteolytic Enzymes and arnica oil, until she found BPC-157. After a few days of this I could walk. The only thing that bothers her is that it is synthetic. So we gave it a couple of weeks then stopped. Knee has been overall good since apart from an odd day here and there but to go from barely walking to what feels normal is more than expected. My mood has also improved maybe because I can walk! Previously felt as though the bones or ligaments in my knee were rubbing together and there was no fluid. Normal weight, 5’9 don’t do any strenuous exercise, other than my job and walking. Thank you

Elizabeth: Hi Dr Cabral, My dad has had a dark spot (almost black and the size of a small mole) on the very right corner edge of his lower lip for the past year or so which has not changed. He has no desire to go to GP (had a few wrongful family experiences of being told something awful by a GP and it turning out to be wrong, so don’t want to be looped into any fear mongering or pharmaceuticals). He is fine otherwise, in 60s, generally in good health apart from some stressful phases, eats a balanced diet, does love wine but never smoked/taken meds. I’m thinking maybe Angiokeratoma / vitamin deficiency or possibly hormone related. I’ve looked at the natural topical remedies that may help but wondered what may be best and whether topical iodine could be a solution? P.s. are you familiar with Indiumease?
