Somwtimes exercise can seem more like a chore than a fun and invigorating time in your day where you get to move, sweat, and release some stress...

Because of this I make sure to add one “fun workout” per week where I break it down into 3 parts, which also makes the time fly by!

And even if your someone that loves working out and looks forward to every workout, I have no doubt you’ll see great results from using this method as well...

Tune into today’s #CabralConcept 706 where I explain my 3x20 Weekly Workout formula and give you the exact movements I do - Enjoy the show!

Did you know that it's only been over the past 100 years or so that we've followed what we now consider to be a "normal" breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Somehow, we've been corrupted by corporate marketing agendas to get us to eat a certain way in order to over consume certain foods that they mass produce...

The problem is that this style of eating is making us sick one bite at a time and since the progressions is so slow we never make the connection that our health issues stem from what we're eating (and when)...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 705 for the truth behind your 3 main meals per day - Enjoy the show!

Hopefully by now we all realize hypey, quick-fix approaches in life rarely ever produce the long-term results we're looking for...

However, what has always stood the test of time are ancient healing principles for both mind and body that when followed help to rebalance your entire being...

And, I believe the only reason they're not being followed is because there's too much "mystery" or confusion surrounding them...

So on today's #CabralConcept 704 I want to share with you the simplified version of the 5 Ayurvedic detox techniques that you can complete in under 5-minutes each morning - Enjoy the show!

It's partly media driven and partly the society we've grown up in, but our conditioning has been so warped that we come to expect immediate results...

And when we don't get results that week or maybe even the same day, we throw in the towel and give up on the plan we felt was going to get us the results we were searching for...

The problem is that this type of thinking keeps us stuck in the proverbial quicksand always struggling to pull ourselves out of our current situation...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 703 to find out the one thing you should focus on in order to achieve your goals (predictably every time) - Enjoy the show!

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!

I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…

Let’s get started!

Alexis: Hi Dr Cabral, I am slowly working my way through your podcast and have to say that they are life changing. They have actually replaced my music while I work out.  I learn so much each time. I am needing some guidance on where to begin. I am wanting to have some of your functional lab test performed at the beginning of the year but not sure which one to start with. I live a healthy lifestyle, work out 6 days a week with weights and hiit/Tabata, rarely eat out and buy all organic. The time I go to bed I am learning is far to late (between 12-1 am).  I have been having odd issues creep up over the last 2 years. I have developed a skin disorder called dermatographia, also called skin writing. Basically when I scratch an itch it gets really red and swells. I also have high cortisol levels (24 in the morning and around 21 at 5pm). My cortisol binding globulin is also high. I struggle with anxiety and have all my life. My fasting glucose is also a little high (around 100); however my a1c is normal at 5.1. Lastly, I have a sore in my nose that I cannot get to heal. My initial thought was pre diabetes, but I am not overweight and with my a1c being normal, I am stumped as to what is going on. I am a 33 yr old female, 5'7", 133 lbs. any insight would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you so much!

Lance: Hi Dr, I work with people who have long-term illegal drug use in their past. My clients are in early recovery and I firmly believe that nutritional changes can prevent more negative consequences in their lives. I will be using your MM podcasts to uplift and help them set new goals for success. What type of nutritional changes would you initially suggest for people who have anywhere from 5 - 30 plus years of Methamphetamine use?

Denise: I have RA that I am trying to control with the AIP protrocal but after 2 years  of this I am still having problems. If I try the FOOD sensitivity  test would it show much when I have been on such a restricted diet . I HAVE severe brain fog and some hand joint inflammation and bad hair loss. Do you or your team have any advice for me. I recently  found your podcasts and love it. I hope you can help me. I HAVE SEEN 2 functional  medicine doctors that did a lot of testing but it did not help much. I went to someone who reads energy and she did help  some by adding sunflower oil that stopped the dehydration problem. Then adding B vitamin helped some brain dysfunction. Any help would be appreciated.  SINCERELY  DENISE

Gary: Hi Dr. Cabral, My name is Gary from Philippines and I'm interested with your book - Rain Barrel Effect. Don't you have any paperback version of the book? I'm interested because I've believe in reversing ailments and my son was diagnosed with autism and I'm following GAPS diet for him and we're seeing improvements. Hope to hear from you. Regards, Gary

1,000th Question: Bree: Hi Dr. Cabral, My 3 year old son has had recurrent impetigo breakouts around his mouth. He was prescribed a topical antibiotic ointment which I put on the sores as soon as they start. It usually takes about 2 weeks for them to clear up. It just doesn't seem normal for him to be constantly getting these sores. There must be something wrong at a deeper level. He's generally healthy otherwise. No major health issues, typical 3 year old. He does have a terrible diet. He pretty much refuses to eat anything green. Sometimes I can get him to drink a smoothie but it has to be pretty mild for him to drink it...so mostly fruit and a bit of spinach. I'm thinking my next step is to get the sores cultured....ugh! What are your thoughts?? Thank you SO much!!!

Kevin: Hi Dr. Cabral, I was wondering if you could provide me with 2 nutrition books that most impacted you? I am going in the nutrition/fitness field and crave to learn more about the topic. Thank you, Kevin

Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!

This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!

Check out today's questions:

Marina: Dr. Cabral & Team, before I start I'd just like to thank you for everything you do! You are such an incredible human being and you have inspired me to pursue my education in the medical field to HEAL and not just mask symptoms. I listen to your podcast everyday and have learned so much over the past year, you truly as remarkable and I wish the best for you and your practice. I am a 21, going on 22 year old female living in Southern California. I am currently studying at the University of California Irvine after transferring from a CC. I tend to be a very stressed person, maybe due to my perfectionist type A personality. Aside from striving for perfection in school, I also strive for perfection in my health. Over the past 2 years I have struggled with my eating behavior and body views. Sometimes I binge eat and have just developed a disordered relationship with food. I workout 4-5 times a week because i genuinely love it and for the most part eat pretty healthy, except when I overindulge, which is typically in processed, sweet foods such as bread, cookies, ice cream, cake. I've learned a ton about health and nutrition from your podcast and have tried to include as many health foods possible in my diet, again, except for the times i overeat or binge. The past 3 months have been pretty stressful for me, starting at a new school, moving away from home, trying to figure out my career and school plans, and on top of that dealing with my disordered eating and body issues. I'm usually irregular when it comes to my menstrual cycle but since starting school, I have not gotten my period since August, it is now December (3-4 months). I used to have mild acne 2 years ago, it cleared up and now, over the past 2 months, my acne has come back, mildly but i get constant breakouts primarily on my chin area, sides of checks, and sometimes on my forehead. My hair has been falling out a lot lately! It even feels extremely thinner than before and i have developed mild dandruff. I know this must have to do with stress and maybe what Im eating. Stress about school, my eating and body issues, and how I appraise those stressors. Foods i eat such as dairy (4-5 eggs weekly), sometimes milk derived foods (cookies, cake, ice cream). I know this is a lot f information and I plan on working with you to help me heal once I have some extra cash. If you could direct me to certain podcast episodes or give me advice on any of these issues, I would seriously appreciate it so so much. Thank you again for all that you do and all that you provide for us, your works and efforts do NOT go unnoticed. -Marina

Zoe: hi dr cabral, thank you for answering my previous wellness question - i am currently trying to take onboard your advice and make the necessary changes to my life and calm my nervous system down, eat a lower fat, higher carb diet and am looking to conduct some of the recommended tests soon. On a separate note, im thinking about going to India for 10 days - 2 weeks in the new year - id like to continue my wellness journey, and ive never been to india before - id like to learn about the culture, more of Ayurveda and perhaps the yoga and spiritual side. i realise that this is not strictly a wellness related question - but i wondered if you had any tips/suggestions where to go and what to do as its my first visit and id really appreciate your advice and your love of India and Ayurveda. Eventually id love to go to there for a longer stint, but right now, the max i can take is 2 weeks. Appreciate your thoughts as always, best, Zoe

Tony: Hello Dr. Cabral, Thanks again for taking my question. As I write this I am about three weeks into the Cabral detox. In early November I spoke with Caitlin regarding my OAT and food sensitivity test results. I have been on point with the diet recommendations and the detox protocol. I decided to have testing done and do the detox to get to the root cause of Ménière’s disease which I have had for about two years. Overall, I am feeling a lot better in the mornings and throughout most of the day. However, around three or 4 o’clock each afternoon, I experience brain fog. It feels as if my brain is fatigued and cannot keep up and I sometimes deal with a slight dizziness as well. My OAT shows that I have low VMA, high HVA, extremely high Quinolinic acid, and really low 5-HIAA. One of my chief concerns in my results was the possibility of neural excitotoxicity, because of the potential long-term effects of it. Since I am three going on four weeks into this and still feeling the brain fog and slight dizziness for a portion of the day I was wondering what your recommendations for me are at this point. As far as Meniere’s cases in your practice, what is the average timetable for those who got better after addressing the root causes?

By the way, for those listening who are wondering about the detox and whether it really helps you lose weight or not, let me say that it definitely works. Weight loss was not my goal, especially since I am a hard gainer weightlifter, but I have lost over 15 pounds in the three weeks I’ve been doing this. I would say the product is effective. Thanks again.

Tami: Hello Dr Cabral, I get recurring inflammation of my underarm glands from preteen years. I am currently in my early 30s. I have changed diets, recently started doing a natural detox, however it has reoccurred. When I was younger my tonsils would often get inflamed, however in my later teens this stopped and the inflammation moved to my underarms. I did a full blood test and urine, and all the results came back fine, of course lymphocytes were a bit on the high side, due to the inflammation at the time the blood test was done. I wanted to get a second opinion, on what might be triggering this and possible methods of treatment. Thank you for your time and response. - Tamilia

Elizabeth: Hi Dr Cabral, wondered what your thoughts are on Dr Patrick Flanagan's (Phi Sciences) Crystal Energy and/or MegaHydrate. I am currently using 'Cell Food' by NuScience and wondered if it's similar or if these things are even worth using? If I may also ask your thoughts on BioLive Gold liquid probiotic Thanks for such a great podcast, learning so much! Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community’s questions!

This week, I'll review the pile of books I read over New Year's, as well as what I'm currently studying more of and what I'm moving on from...

Today I'm also going to reveal some disturbing trends going on in the reporting of "scientific studies" that show the true hidden nature of the AMA...

And last, but certainly not least, each week going forward I'm going to be highlighting one of the "super hero" nutrients that your body needs to function at it's highest capacity...

I got my start in the health field by working in gyms and "cutting my teeth" by helping clients transform their bodies through exercise...

However, what I quickly realized was that there wasn't a one-size-fits-all approach that I could use to template workouts no matter who walked through the door...

This discovery then led me to be able to look at and treat each client as an individual that needed specific guidelines in order to make sure that their workout was customized based on their needs...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 699 to find out what I discovered in terms of whether or not you can lose weight and get well without doing any exercise at all - Enjoy the show!

Losing weight has so much more to do than calories in versus calories out...

Sure, in the short-term you can lose weight by depriving your body of fuel through food, but in the long term you want to be able to lose weight without damaging your metabolism...

The reason I mention this is that I see too many people starving themselves of good quality nutrition and as a result their hormones begin to suffer, which then causes other health issues as a side effect...

On today's #CabralConcept 698 I share with you how to lose 5 lbs in 7 days the healthy way without sacrificing future results - Enjoy the show!

Although I love the Holidays, what I don’t always enjoy is the dramatic amount of sugary foods at every turn...

And although a treat every once and awhile is no big deal for most, the daily sugar intake many people unknowingly consume is literally dangerous...

This is why beginning with awareness is the key to overcoming the health, weight gain, wellness, and aging issues associated with increased sugar consumption...

The majority of people use the New Year to give themselves a fresh start and with that often times comes some form of goal setting...

While I'm a huge proponent of setting goals I often see people in my practice get overwhelmed as to where to start and how many goals to set...

And since the New Year should be a fun and exciting time (rather than one of anxiety) it's important to stay focused on what you can accomplish in the next few months...

Tune into today's #CabralConcept 696 for the details on how to set New Year's goals without getting overwhelmed so you can have your best year yet - Enjoy the show!

Dec 31, 2017

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!

I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…

Let’s get started!

Cristi: Dear Dr. Cabral, I am a fairly new listener to your program, and I have been slowly catching up on all of your past episodes as they are both fascinating and helpful. I am in my early 40s, live a healthy, busy (two kids, full time job) active lifestyle with daily exercise (yoga, weight training, interval training, stretching, foam rolling) and an anti inflammatory diet similar to what you recommend. My BMI is optimal. Recently I have been able to feel a tendon or something (maybe my IT band) snap over a bone in my hip. At first, I thought it was happening only as I walked up hill and up stairs, but now it is there as I walk as well. From what I researched, this seems to be "snapping hip syndrome." It doesn't hurt, but I do not want it to progress to a point where it does. I do not know what caused it--maybe jumping on a cheap rebounder or doing full range of motion squats with weight (though it wasn't much more than 60 pounds, and I know I used correct form). I went to a chiropractor a couple of times, and that may have started to help, but I had previously used up my other visits in the allotted 12 my insurance allows per year, so I could not continue. I tried to go to a PT, but they wanted a written "diagnosis" from a medical doctor before they would see me. It seems to make sense to avoid motions during which this occurs, but it occurs even walking! I do not want to cut down on my activity level, but I don't want this to progress. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

Amber: I’m on several different medications. I’ve had three failed back surgeries. I have fusion in my lower back. I’m in pain everyday even with the medications I’m taking, also severe anxiety/panic attacks, and nerve pain down my left leg. I had a csf leak after second surgery which caused me to have a PICC Line in for three months. I had to hav Vancomyocin and Cephapine IV in high doses twice a day. That stuff was brutal. The medications I’m on is Dilaudid (2mg 3x day), Gabapentin (900mg 3x day), Klonopin (1mg 3x day), Zoloft (200mg 1x day), and Birth Control (1x day), plus they are currently adding Propanolol (10mg 3x day prn). I feel so sick and toxic inside every day. I’ve been in bed for three years straight except to get up to eat, shower, go to my appointments. I’m 28 now and hate feeling so sick and in terrible back pain. I was wondering how I could cut down on medications and what natural medications I can use. If I had the money to come see you, I would. I think one of my neighbors with chronic pain is going to fly from Tampa, FL to come see you. I’m on workers comp and living with my parents. I don’t have any money coming in and can’t work or even sit because of severe tailbone pain(which could be related to the metal rods and screws in my lower back). I would like to get that taken out, it’s been a little over two years since fusion surgery. Anything you can suggest, even a back surgeon I can see for a second opinion would be great. I really appreciate the your time in reading this. I hope you can help. Btw- I do take your cbd oil. It helps me to sleep, and sometimes helps my anxiety. My pain management doctor wants me to start medical marijuana vapor as soon as he gets his license to prescribe it. Plus, after my emg, I’m going to try acupuncture (workers comp is starting to do more natural things. I’ve been through a lot. Over 250 nights in hospitals since January 2015. I could keep going and tell you more, but the most important aspects are written to you here. Again, thank you so much!!! Amber

Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am a 34yo female who is 5’4.5” weighing 120lbs. I have been lifting heavy weights about 4x per week where I alternate days of upper and lower body weight training. I also take a gentle yoga class on Wednesdays. My cardio has been inconsistent 30 minutes here and there of the stair master or an occasional hour long step class once a week. I have also been on a completely vegan diet for over a year with very limited amounts of soy and gluten. Although I am small in stature (size 0), I feel like I am too soft for the amount of heavy lifting I am doing. I really want to see more definition in my arms, legs and abs and change my shape. Do you have any recommendations on how I should change my weight/cardio routine and what foods I should eat to ensure I get enough protein for my goals? Is it possible to get the right kind of body building protein on lentils/beans and vegetables? Should I consider soy? I used to eat tons of chicken breasts, egg whites and Greek yogurt and I do notice that I don’t have as much muscle definition but I wasn’t healthy either and had major digestive issues. I am trying to find a balance and at a loss on what is the best diet for my health as well as physique. I appreciate what you do each and every day. My husband ordered me your candida cleanse and 21 day detox and I cannot wait to begin.

Teresa: Hello, I would like to know if you have ever treated a child diagnosed with pandas or tics. We have seen tics go away with clostridia treatment but it rises again. Thanks.

Judy: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have just received your 21day detox and your candida cleanse protocol. Which do you recommend I complete first? I noticed that I can have berries in the shake on the candida protocol but not the detox, so I am assuming these protocols should be completed separately. I am a 34yo female with hormonal acne issues and dealing with hypothyroidism and likley adrenal/cortisol issues based on what I have heard on your podcasts. I look forward to completing these protocols and eventually taking your tests to come up with a longer term game plan to achieving health and happiness. Merry Christmas to you, your family and staff! :)

Mary: Hello Dr. Cabral. Thank you for your passion of getting your knowledge out to the masses. I very much appreciate it, as you have kickstarted my return to wellness. I recently got the results of a Genova GI effects test which came back relatively normal aside from a moderate microbe diversity (Euryarchaeota present and high E. Coli) and high Beta-glucuronidase. I know this is incomplete knowledge since you don't have all my labs/symptoms as I am not a patient, however, if only given this information would you consider this a possible dysbiosis that merits the use of your bacterial and yeast overgrowth protocol? Thank you. Also, what are your thoughts on calcium-D-glucarate to lower Beta-glucuronidase levels? Moderate microbe diversity ((higher than normal Euryarchaeota Phylum), (high Odoribacter spp., high anaerotruncus colihominis, high faecalibacterium prausnitzii, high lactobacillus spp. high pseudoflavonifractor app. high Veillonella spp. low collinsella aerofaciens, high E coli.)) low fecal fat cholesterol, low inflammation and immunology levels, high Beta-glucuronidase (9,000). Negative parasitology, non-pathogenic candida and sccharomyces levels.

Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!

Dec 30, 2017

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!

This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!

Check out today's questions:

Alex: Hi Dr. Cabral, First of all, I find your knowledge and willingness to share said knowledge so refreshing. Simply put, what you say makes sense. My question is about your Candida protocol. I've specifically searched all of your podcasts for "Candida" and haven't found this question addressed, so I'm hoping I am not wasting your time. I asked for the Candida protocol for Christmas (yes, seriously) and I’m hoping to start it early January. I’m struggling with the fact that I have 1-2 trips booked every month next year for weddings or for other miscellaneous reasons. I know you’ve said you have an occasional “cheat meal” (pasta, a social glass of wine), but I’m wondering if doing this DURING the protocol will make it less effective. Should I wait to do it when I have no trips planned for 12 weeks? Just want to get the most benefit possible. Thanks!

Josie: Hi Dr. C, I love your podcasts. I listen daily and I am an annoying voice in my family’s ears about “Dr. Cabral says this... “ 2 questions: My younger sister is 6 months pregnant and her blood sugar has been high and her dr is thinking gestational diebetes. She eats the standard American diet. Her normal activity level is low so we suggested maybe some light pregnancy yoga. Her doctor had not given her any suggested diet or even recommended foods to eat or not eat. I haven’t heard any podcasts on gestational diebetes, but looked up episode 603 where you gave recommendations for type 2 diabetes- workout, blood sugar support supplement, and 2 cups of vegetables at meals. 1-Would you recommend the same for a prego? 2-What do you think about air fryers (for preganant and non-pregnant people)?

Ceri: Hi Dr Cabral. I am a health coach and I have a question relating to a client. He is a 34 year old male who has sleep apnoea. He has had one surgery for this, though I don't know the exact details. History of high cholesterol (taking statins), non alcoholic fatty liver disease, pre-diabetic and issues with blood sugar. I have been working with him for 3 months to improve his diet/lifestyle and he has lost weight, now to 84kg and has noticed many improvements in his health and feeling better, but the sleep apnoea has not changed. He has had a repeat sleep study and their is no difference. He has big energy drops during the day and needs to nap in the afternoon. It is impacting his ability to work long days. I am unsure if this is something caused by a physical blockage of if there are other changes he can make to diet/lifestyle that will help. I would love your input. Kind Regards, Ceri

Daniela: I am a big fan of the podcasts and have found the information to be very helpful and interesting. I'm hoping that you/your team can help with an issue I've had for years. I am constantly clearing my throat, even to the point of not realizing it. I know it's an issue, because sometimes my throat feels raw from the throat clearing. I don't have any health issues I'm aware of, so I don't know what could be causing this strange sensation. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards Daniela

Jamie: Hi! This might be a really dumb question, but I can't really find an answer online! When I drink smoothies, I get really, really cold and it takes me hours to get warm again. I love to warm back up quickly in my little infrared sauna (the "tent" kind - my kids call it my spaceship.) However, when I am super cold going in to the sauna, I don't sweat much at all - not even close to the amount I sweat if I am already warm when I start (for example, if I do a sauna after I exercise, I sweat a ton!) So my question is this - am I still getting the detox/health/longevity benefits of the infrared sauna if I am so cold that I don't sweat much during the 30-min session, or are the health benefits pretty much solely related to the deep sweating?? Thanks so much!

Kathy: Hello Dr. Cabral, No words can explain how thankful I am to have found your podcasts and references. Your care and concern for others is a blessing. Gonna try to state the facts in order and short as possible: Me: 51 y/o,no meds (used to take cholesterol meds but stopped 2014), full time Speech Pathologist in Nursing Home, weekend Server at restaurant; high cholesterol, always been active, since mid July: 30-60 min/day workouts (Beachbody member and use Shakeology daily; follow 21 day fix meal plan but choose bulk of my carbs through veggies, 6-8 hours sleep/night Problem: Weight loss from 151# to 130# from March to Current date -don't know if related to stool issues, gut issues or changes in eating habits. Primary concern: very strange looking stool. varies from the following: normal, black, layered 1/2 black 1/2 brown, normal color with white or black dots, fibrous looking sticks, soft floating strings, extremely odd shapes, frequent small poop daily after large, stool is greasy looking at times, every morning-explosive emission. Also have sporadic severe leg cramps at night usually after weekend of waitressing (note: I drink recommended amounts of water first thing in morning and daily with your recommendation for sea salt and lime and love it) History: (don't know if all this started due to dental issues and if you can shed light on this) Dental consult early Jan 2017 with xrays. Found fractured root and 3 tooth bridge needed removal. No antibiotics. Symptoms started about 3 weeks after initial dental appointment (about Jan 26). Symptoms included: frequent nausea, bloating-lots of air in belly, pussiness surrounding stool, stringy stool, explosive stool(everytime went to bathroom),frequent stool, tightness lower abdomen. Extraction not scheduled until a flipper was available and due to this appoint delayed til April. Doc said at time of extraction considerable infection and in larger area than previously thought. No antibiotics post extraction. Multiple tests as per below attachments. March 10-May 1: Fodmap diet started as recommended following Colonoscopy and on my own added ParaGuard (Advanced Intestinal Flora Support-nutrition by Zahler) about 2 weeks later nausea and most of cramping went away, crazy stool continued May 1 was tested for celiac sprue and was told all blood tests were normal-no evidence of celiac sprue or thyroid disease. EGD recommeded and I was told to eat normal foods until EGD. I told CNP that I stay away from gluten and dairy as part of my daily meals and she told me she wanted me to resume them to my diet and that they may do some biopsies as needed with EGD. June 5 EGD-per doc "no evidence of cancer, infection or Celiac disease in biopsies. Biopsies showed evidence of mild non specific inflammation and it is recommended that I do an over the counter acid suppression for a month (Priolosec 20 mg daily). When I responded to her via email asking if the inflammation could be related to a food allergy she told me, "It is unlikely for food allergy to cause this type of inflammation. Medication side effects, alcohol or excessive acid production may be the culprit." I told her I am not on any medications nor do I drink except for maybe on occasion on the weekend, and that I did not want to take over the counter medication unless I absolutely had to. When I confronted her about the inflammation not coming from a food allergy and that maybe I was having trouble in another area of my body that is affecting my stomach, or maybe a parasite infection which is undiagnosed, I asked her if I needed other referrals, if I should change my diet again, if I should do any type of cleanses, etc. HER RESPONSE: Please schedule an office visit with NP to discuss your concerns. NO THANKS! June 12 Began Whole 30 diet after reading book, felt great, and I still stick to similar eating habits. I do eat occasional bean chips for a snack when I want something crunchy. I will also eat an occasional dessert but not part of regular intake. August 1 bought and did your Intestinal Cleanse and Healthy Belly Today: Feel great except for continued strange bowels, fatigue midway through day and have to close eyes for 10 min to get through day, leg cramps Just ordered your parasite protocol and was planning to do this followed by CIBO/Candida Protocol. What else can I do? I admire your knowledge, enthusiasm to help, and look forward to any recommendations. Even if I ordered a test I wouldn't know exactly where to begin. God Bless You and Merry Christmas! Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!

I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks…

Let’s get started!

Donna: Dear Dr. Cabral, Over a year ago I was experiencing mild to strong feelings of weak sensations equally in my arms and legs. After many medical tests I found a Palmer Specific Chiropractor/Nutritionist. X-rays showed I had no curve in my upper cervical. Through a year of adjustments those sensations went away & a curve is taking shape in my upper cervical. Just this past week I am experiencing these symptoms again. I haven't yet addressed this to my chiropractor. It limits my workouts so I can't lift heavy or the sensations feel stronger. I am 51, at a good weight, exercise daily, paleo/good sourced foods, Your approved supplements, drink more than 1/2 my body weight in oz.of water. I have done the 7 day detox and 90 day cleanse. What are your thoughts? Respectfully & Thankful, Donna

Will: Hi, Can I undergo the 7 day detox while on antibiotics ? (xifaxan) Same for the candida protocol, can I start while on xifaxan ? Thanks

Vanessa: Hi Dr. Carbal, I have been battling Lyme Disease for numerous years and am always looking to learn more on nutrition and how to support my immune system. Can you recommend any books to read to continue learning? Thanks! Vanessa

Will: Hi, Is the intestinal cleanse mandatory before beginning the candida protocol ? or can I just start with the candida protocol by itself ? Thanks

Tori: Hello! First off I’m very interested in holistic medicine approaches to healing, and I was wondering if you had any advice for a particular problem I’ve been dealing with since coming to college. I am on the Division 1 Cross country and track team and always have had an irregular period since competitively running (essentially absent), however ever since I got mono in the spring of my freshman year (over 1.5 years ago) I have not gotten a natural period.I was on birth control for around 3 months, but t made me feel horrible! Ever since I still haven’t gotten a period after those “placebo” ones. I just got my estrogen levels tested and they are undetectable on a scale of 19 pc/mg, meaning my levels are around a post menopausal woman if not lower. I’m really intent on trying to regain this vital cycle for my overall health, since it has caused discomforting symptoms for me, I’m just not exactly sure how! I’ve been trying to research foods and Supplements I can try, but I was wondering if you had any knowledgeable advice since this is somewhat within the realm of what you study! I’m so sorry for the long message!

Lori: My son is 7 dx with PANDAS in oct , onset was September 7 however he did develop tics in January that subsided about 2 weeks after onset (given advair and singulair at the time). He had tonsils and adenoids out in July when one of his tonsils began to grow all of the sudden. Biopsy clear but did not culture the tonsil. He has been on antibiotics and anti vitals for about 6 weeks along with it d and Motrin for 2 weeks, charcoal, 5 htp, interfase plus, probiotics and fish oil. Topical cbd and frankenscence. He had elevated EBV/STREP pos ANA speckled at 640. He has made small gains with OCD and tics are gone. Still has rage , food avoidance, hallucinations and can't attend school due to separation anxiety and hand writing regression. I am wondering if he would have better healing with your gut protocol another Mom told me about? Please advise:)

Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!

Dec 23, 2017

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!

This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!

Check out today's questions:

Kim: Hi Dr. Cabral - I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism at the age of 47, and have been taking Armour Thyroid medication for approximately 10 years. My levels go up and down and are checked every 6 months. My latest blood work showed: T4=1,0, T3=2.6, TSH =2.45. I have recently started listening to your podcasts (thankfully a friend told me about you)! I'm wondering what your opinion is about Hypothyroidism? It seems that every female I know around my age is diagnosed with it and put on medication! My hair has become so thin...it is scary! If my thyroid levels are "normal" while taking the Armour Thyroid medication, I'm wondering if the hair loss could be caused from the medication itself? I would love to be able to stop taking the medication, but do not know where to go from here and I"m hoping you can help point me in the right direction. My husband and I are using your Daily Nutritional Support powder , greens powder and Probiotic and love it! Thank you so much!!!

Joan: My daughter has been very unwell for over 2 years with IBD and a strange symptom of an inability to warm herself, and consequently goes through a nightly routine of freezing and overheating. Blood tests are normal. I thought it could be Wilson's Temperature Syndrome but it can't be tested. Is this something you are familiar with? Do you think you could help her with this?

Cara: Hi Dr. Cabral, As always, thank you for providing this House Call service. I share it with everyone! This question is for my husband. -At his annual physical/blood work his cholesterol went up 30 points. -His LDL is 130! His HDL is 73, Total is 276 and his Homocysteine level is 9.6 Note: we are having his blood work re-ran to make sure there wasn't an error because the lab didn't run his Thyroid panel or a couple of other panels the doctor had ordered. -We eat super clean - organic/farmers markets/lots of vegetables/pastured meats/maybe 6 beers a year/no processed sugars/low sugar in general -The only thing that has changed is that we switched out smoothies in the morning after having eggs every morning for probably a year. -We do saute our veggies in ghee or coconut oil which I always thought was healthy until you mentioned you prefer cooking in water and adding olive oil after. -My husband is 45 and does have the MTHFR gene mutation, I think it's homozygous. He has not been tested for COMT. -Doctor thinks this is genetic and provided a food list (although those foods are exactly what we eat). He recommended RYR Synergy to lower LDL - a red rice yeast and COQ10 mixture as well as Berberine Synergy. -My husband has never been one for cardio or weights, but he does go to an hour long yoga class 3 times a week. Some weeks only 1 time a week. I'm wondering if he needs to be incorporating weights and cardio. -He also did your 2 week detox before this blood work I'm thankful the doctor is functional medicine minded and did not recommend a statin, because no way would we go that route. SO, Dr. Cabral, what do we need to do here? In gratitude for your work every day!

Tina: Dear Dr. Cabral: Thanks for your podcast! My friend and I love to listen and then get together to talk about your advice. You recently answered her question and we were so thrilled!!! I'd love to give you a little run down of my symptoms/ health history and see if you have any advice about which tests/ supplements you might recommend. I'm not sure how successful I will be in making this a "little" run down. I am a 30 year old female, 5'8'', 150 lbs, athletic build. I have weighed about the same for the past 10 years, though I have had varying degrees of fitness. When I was young, I had a history of stomach aches and stomach cramping that would come and go. I ate a poor diet high in refined sugars and processed foods. I was a very nervous, incredibly shy, excessively perfectionist, high strung kid. Starting in 7th grade, I experienced the beginnings of hyperhydrosis. I had extremely sweaty underarms.... I could easily sweat through two shirts and a sweatshirt, and nerves and social anxiety made this cycle worse. Also starting in 7th grade, I was highly active with swimming, dance, and tumbling. In high school, these continued, but as school got more difficult, I was perpetually sleep deprived.... going to bed around 11 and getting up around 5:00 to go to morning practices. In 7th grade, I experienced my first bout of extreme stomach flu.... which included vomiting over 100 times and ending up in the hospital for fluids and anti-vomiting medication. This extreme-stomach response was repeated in high school and in college. To this day, if I get a stomach flu or food poisoning, I vomit far more than the average person, though not as much as I used to. Toward the end of high school, my body sort of shut down on me and I experienced fatigue and incredibly poor performance in my sport. I didn't really do anything about it because I did not have any adults who were particularly aware of my condition, and health wasn't foremost on my mind. In college, the sleep deprivation and over-exerting continued as I was a D1 college swimmer. I was running my body into the ground and it wasn't until junior year that I had the courage to quit my sport and focus on health and things I loved. By this point, I had developed quite a bit of joint pain... in my low back and shoulders, which was continuously diagnosed as "tendonitis", but my body couldn't seem to heal itself properly, even with adequate rest. In college, I transitioned to healthier eating habits until after college when I went gluten-free and learned each year how to cook and eat better real foods. Post-college, I had surgery for endometriosis and I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (for which I have a sleep appliance). To this day, when get sick, I tend to get sicker than those around me, particularly in regard to stomach illnesses. Injuries - especially joint injuries - tend to not heal properly. For example, I fell off my bike three years ago and my thumb has never been the same. I have knee pain from 6 years ago. My injuries all tend to be rather "vague" joint injuries which do not seem to be helped much by physical therapy or anti-inflammatories. My biggest concern is my constant fatigue and brain fog issues. Last week I was just officially diagnosed with estrogen dominance after doing a dutch hormone test. I don't know what the treatment plan is yet for estrogen dominance. My progesterone and testosterone levels are good, but my estrogen levels are high. I experience so many PMS symptoms, including but certainly not limited to bloating (up to 10 lbs a month), bad body odor - even immediately following a shower, brain fog, anxiety, mood swings, etc. I have a left lazy -eye (strabismus) which contributes to fatigue and focus difficulties. For the past 5 years I have eaten a very clean diet - paleo style, I exercise regularly with mild-moderate effort/moderate length workouts (walking, running, intervals, body strength exercises). These workouts are nothing like the grueling workouts of my past. I have a low tolerance for high-fiber foods like oatmeal and broccoli and quinoa. These create excessive bloating and gas. For the past 5 years I regularly get ~7 hrs of a sleep a night and for the past 6 months I get about 8 hours of sleep a night. I no longer have a stressful job. I have a good prayer life and I am have decreased so many stressors in my life. It seems as though my energy levels and immune system are just not quite balanced. I am a highly sensitive type - and I tend to be very aware of my body and I react strongly to medicines/stimulants/caffeine/etc. I still experience sweaty underarms, clammy hands, and social anxiety. I would love to simply get to my "core" health issue, assuming there is a single issue. I am SO determined to regain my health. I am motivated and I would follow instructions to do whatever it takes to help my body find homeostasis again. It can be so overwhelming to even know where to go next. My body just doesn't "feel" right, my energy doesn't "feel" right, my mind doesn't "feel" right, but I don't know how to go about pinpointing the issue. Maybe it really just is the estrogen levels, but shouldn't there be something that made the estrogen levels too high in the first place? As an interesting side note, I did a 7 day bone broth and coconut water fast last year, and during that time I had no pain in my body, I slept well, and I had insanely high energy levels. This is largely how I know for sure that my not "Feeling" right is a true assessment and there is a better , healthier, happier way to live! Once I started eating again, all the typical symptoms came back. Another side note, I've had bags under my eyes for as long as I can remember! Pictures show they've been there at least since 7th grade. Alas, I have failed to make this question short for you! I apologize! And I thank you for everything you do to educate your listeners on healing! God bless you! Tina

Donna: Thank You Dr. Cabral for sharing your knowledge & research with everyone! I have a brown looking age spot/liver spot/ sun spot just a bit smaller than a dime on my cheek-bone and a few smaller ones on my face. I eat free range chicken/eggs, grassfed beef, ground turkey, occasional good sourced pork, organic fruit/vegetables, kerry gold butter, xtra virgin unrefined coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, nuts (NO peanuts) and seeds and lots of greens. I'm 5'6", weighing 128#'s, I work out, and am 51. This year I have done your 7 day detox, the 90 day candida gut cleanse, a liver cleanse, and an ionic foot cleanse. What else can I do? I also have puffiness/bags under my eyes and dry hard skin at both corners of all my fingernails, the skin at the outside of pinky toes, and skin in front of all toes. I take pharmaceutical grade fish oil, vit. D, calm magnesium, your B complex, probiotic, your ascorbic acid, Great Lakes Gelatin/collagen, Dream Protein, drink at least 64 0z. of water daily with bragg vinegar, or essential oils in it and one-two small cups of organic coffee. Looking forward to new ideas to try! Thank You!!! Donna
