Darren: Good day Dr Cabral. Hope all is well with you and family. I read James Nestor's Breathing book on your recommendation and after hearing him on your show. What are your thoughts on "mewing" as recommended in the book. If it's something you believe has benefits (or drawbacks) is it possible for you to discuss it further? Thank you

Anonymous: Hi dr cabral, thank you infinitely for all you do and your passion for sharing your knowledge with us.. i love listening to the podcast. My question is for my daughter who is 18. She is in college and is busy. She enjoys exercising and is on the cheer team so lots of tumbling and is active but she suffers from anxiety. Some days worse than others, especially these days. I too have it. I take the adrenal soothe. Would that be something that she could take as well ? Any other suggestions ? Thanks so much again - take care

Nicole: Hi Dr Cabral! First off, thank you for all of the time and effort you put in…it is GREATLY appreciated! I have been struggling with severe cramping, bloating and back pain about 7 days before my period starts. I’ve also had lab work done over the years and it has shown that my progesterone typically peaks within a high range during first half of luteal phase but then drops off “earlier than desired” (a quote from my RE). My question is, could my low progesterone be solely due to high cortisol (which I already know is one of my issues) or could it be caused by insufficient egg quality/premature ovarian failure? Is there any way to know for sure? Can the two be related? Any other advice on how to increase egg quality would be greatly appreciated!

Carrie-Ann: Thank you a million times over for all that you do for this world. 12 months ago I did the big 5 labs and in the last 12 months I have done the 21 detox, CBO protocol with finisher and citrocidal drops, intestinal cleanse, heavy metal detox, 7 day detox, another 3 weeks of citrocidal drops (as symptoms hadn’t cleared) and I continue to take your DNS, DFVB, magnesium, zinc, probiotic, vitamin C and D, fish and fish oil daily. I am IHP level 2 certified and also I have been a chiropractor for the last 20 years. I’ve lived a natural healthy lifestyle for the last 15-20 years. After having my first baby 10 years ago I developed psoriasis and now also have high grade cervical dysplasia. Since starting your protocols I’ve had some great things change. My two fungal toenails are almost all grown out normal and I’ve had 2 plantar warts on the soles of my feet for years and they are both gone. I’m thrilled about both these changes as it really lets me know things are improving internally. Although I have seen no change in my psoriasis and I still have high grade cervical dysplasia (confirmed 2 weeks ago with biopsy and colposcopy). So finally to my question, what more can I do? I have no other symptoms. Digestion is great, I sleep well, my stress levels are low and I love my life.

Lilly:  Hi doctor Cabral, After you talked about your experience with a CGM, I started wearing one and am learning so much about my diet. Thank you for that great tip! I’ve noticed that my sugar drops extremely low a few times a night and I usually wake up when that happens. I think I know what’s causing it: I eat a very early dinner and fast until breakfast. And I know that in order to prevent the nighttime dips, it would be good to eat something before sleep, but I really don’t want to break my (clean) fast. Is there anything you could recommend to prevent the nighttime hypoglycemia, without using food? Thanks so much! Lilly

Richard: Hello Dr. Cabral, First off I want to say thank you for all that you do. Your passion for helping people is truly remarkable and it is much appreciated! My question is regarding the use of iodine with autoimmune diseases, particularly Hashimotos. I have done a lot of research on this and listened to some of the top autoimmune specialists and most of them seem to agree that taking iodine, whether from foods or supplements, can do more harm than good. Their argument is that an autoimmune condition is basically and overactive immune system and Iodine can also increase the activity of the immune system, which in turn increases the autoimmunity. They claim there are numerous research papers in scientific literature that shows when Hashimotos patients are given iodine, their autoimmune condition can flare up. I would love to hear you thoughts on this and whether or not you recommend iodine for your patients that have Hashimotos. Thank you so much!!

Leanne: Hi Dr Cabral, I have a question regarding FASD, Foetal alcohol spectrum disorder. What advice can you give for a 9yr old boy affected by FASD? Symptoms are vast but include sleep issues, mood and behavioral problems, learning difficulties, ADD type behaviors although we've had an assessment for autism and add and there was no diagnosis given. Any input you have will be gratefully received! Thanks.

Josh: Hey I have been having an issue with an ingrown toenail. I've had a round of antibiotics and a podiatrist trimmed the nail and didn't do the full procedure. Going back for a checkup on Sept 21. I think the nail is getting infected again, I've been soaking it in epson salt and treating it with neosporin. I've just recently learned of your podcast and was wondering what could I treat my toe with instead of neosporin, didn't realize that it was an antibiotic. Thanks!

Tammi: Dr Cabral, Thank you for all the information you provide on your show. I have been listening to your show for quite some time and often though man this guy discusses mold lot. I realize that mold can be a huge issue but coming from the West Coast with our dry heat there’s never really an issue. I also have lived in Japan but we had dehumidifiers in each room so still mold and mildew were never an issue. Fast forward to a few weeks ago (the beginning of August) my husband, our 13 month old and I moved to Boston. Now I’m blown away and get that mold is a crazy real thing here, that I just don’t know how to manage. For example, I bought a watermelon less than a week later when my husband went to cut it there was mold underneath the watermelon. Our bathroom is constantly mildewy despite the dehumidifier being right outside the door. Our water bottles need to be scrubbed weekly even if they only contain water… I have asked several people we have met about the humidity, how they manage it in there homes and I really just don’t get any response other than yea it’s an issue. Could you please explain to someone who just does not know how to manage the humidity here, what do I need to be doing to manage it and to keep our family safe? Thank you Feeling ridiculous and lost

Chad: Hello Dr. Cabral, love everything you do. For the past 6 months I have been miserable in my own home with near crippling allergies. When I wake up in the morning my eyes are swollen and itchy, I sneeze about 20 times and my head feels like it’s underwater. The worst part is that my sinuses are swollen shut so breathing my nose is next to impossible. I’m almost positive the allergen is in my house ie. mold, dust mites, or some other indoor allergen. What would your advice be for the first step to solving this so that I can get my life back to normal. Thank you very much, Chad

Samantha: Hi Dr Cabral, After running my big 5 labs it was recommended I stick to a low oxalate diet. I have read this will help with kidney stones although I haven't had any as of yet, I'm 43, but my question is if it has any connection to help with tonsil stones? I am currently starting the CBO protocol with my mom and hoping it will cure the chronic tonsil stones but if it hasn't I'm hoping to find another answer. I have listened to all previous podcasts on tonsil stones and have followed all advice regarding gargles etc BUT maybe the CBO will get me there as I know it's a biggie. I just wonder if eating low oxalate could help as well?? Thank you so much Dr Cabral. You truly are amazing.

June: Hello, I have been a long timer follower, dedicated to the detox protocol and beyond. With all the podcasts available and the search engine supplied, i am unable to find a podcast that would support my dilemma. My son who has a two year old is suffering from excema and has been prescribed multiple doses of steroids “GULP” (against my counsel) is now reaching out to me for help. What podcast would be best to send to him regarding this issue. As much as I try, I cannot find out the 100’s of podcasts one that speaks to this directly. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Cassandra: Hi Dr. Cabral, Since about December I've noticed a ganglion cyst on my wrist. It goes away occasionally but eventually comes back. I asked a physician about it and they said it could be drained but still could come back eventually. The only other solution they suggested is to remove it surgically but only as a last resort if it becomes very painful. Do you know of any natural ways to get rid of this. It's not super painful in daily life but quite uncomfortable if I'm holding a plank for example.  Thanks!

Karen: Hi Dr. Cabral! I remember you discussing the Sperti lamp for vitamin D absorption and was wondering if you had been able to test out the lamp? If so, what was your consensus? Super-interested in hearing your thoughts!

Alyssa: Hi Dr Cabral! I have bacterial vaginosis on and off for months on end.. i really don’t want to have to take antibiotics as I have a liver and GI disease and autoimmune issues I’m working through with nutrition and holistic modalities. I know antibiotics will really set me back… I know you can’t prescribe, just wondering, do you have any natural suggestions to remedy BV? Thank you immensely!

Angele: Hello, I am looking for a natural supplement to keep me calm. I become very nervous when I have to see the doctor and cause my BP to go extremely high.Thanks in advance.

Stacey: Hi Dr Cabral! My name is Stacey, I'm 29 and an Australian listener. We have just had our winter and during that time I noticed the ends of my toes were getting really itchy, red and swollen, it was such an uncomfortable feeling. I was told I have chillblains and that there isn't really a cure then to just keep your feet warm at all times. I must say that has helped so much. But I wonder if this is a response to something else? I have never had this issue before I tried to search up the issue on your podcasts but couldn't find any resources. Thanks so much for your help. Vabona: Hi! I recently found out that miralax has ingredients in it that are found in antifreeze. Said ingredients are said to cause many problems including neuropsychiatric and kidney problems. I have miralax to my son for a while from my drs recommendations. I’m terrified of all the damage I have done. What can I do to help my 5 year old detox that is safe. Thank you

Dana: I had a moderate case of covid a month ago and feel depressed ever since. I am 48 and perimenopausal and am wondering if covid causes any vitamin/mineral deficiencies or hormonal changes that may contribute to depression? Prior to getting covid I was taking vit d, c, b complex, magnesium and occasional zinc as well as methylfolate for mthfr def. (one copy). I am prone to seasonal affective disorder but always feel great in summer so this is unusual for me. Thank you! Love your podcast!

Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral. Thanks for taking the time to answer so many questions. I have a question about non-diabetic reactive hypoglycemia. I searched old episodes & found a brief explanation on episode 218 but I think my question is more specific. I have not been officially diagnosed. No matter the amount of carbs I eat or don't eat, my blood sugar drops an hour after I eat a meal to sub 70. At times sub 60. But then 2-3 hours later it spikes. During the day the spike is generally 100-120 but after dinner its 120-150. Fasting BS is below 70-90. I dip into sub 60 during the nights a lot. My sugars are relatively low most of the day until my dinner meal & that is when I get 120-150. It still goes back under 100 before bed. I am wearing a CGM to try to see if I can identify the issue & so far no luck. Like I mentioned the same meal can cause little to no drop/spike & then the next time I have it it does. I have heard that Reactive Hypoglycemia is a precursor to diabetes so I would really like to fix the underlying root cause before that becomes an issue. I eat whole foods 95% of the time, I intermittent fast 12-14hours. I work out 2 cardio 3 strength per week. I try to walk at least 30 minutes each day. Drink lots of water. Thanks for your help!

Megan: Hi Dr. Cabral, I absolutely love your podcast!! I’ve learned so much and implemented many of your suggestions while healing my body. My question is about my 18 month old son. I now know that when I was pregnant I had Candida, SIBO, and parasites. I’m worried I have passed these conditions on to my baby. I nursed him for 16 months and during that time I unknowingly detoxed some of the Candida. I believe the toxins got into my breastmilk, as my baby had really bad eczema during this time and has had a hard time eating solids as well. I feel awful. I’m concerned about gut issues developing as he gets older. How can I help my baby get as healthy as possible moving forward? Thank you so so much for your passion & sharing your wisdom!

Maria: Hi Dr! I have been curious about this for some time. Both my parents have received the AZ vacc, and their reactions were entirely different. My father felt absolutely normal the following days whereas my mother had severe fever, chills, headache for about 24hr. Would this be due to bio individuality or have something to do with the strength/over reactivity of their immune system, if so, is there a favourable response?

Simon: Hi Dr Cabral. What do you think about the hype surrounding apple cider vinegar and especially taking it before/during a meal to aid digestion? Is this a good thing to do daily (I would assume with the largest or highest protein meal). Which people and meals would this be most beneficial for?

Javan: Can any over the counter pills help husband with low sperm count or mobility

Maggie: Is smoking weed bad for your immune system? It helps me to de-stress after work and turn my brain off of work-mode and I have noticed that it helps me fall asleep but I worry that it’s disrupting the quality of sleep I’m getting. I currently smoke every day and have read some contradicting things about it either being great for you or suppressing your immune system.

Penelope: hi Dr Cabral, I am writing on behalf of my mom. She is in her 70s and has arthritis and is constantly in a lot of body pain. She does get relief from acupuncture that was advised by her doctor if she goes once a week. However, this isnt always possible and sometimes goes a few weeks without it (and recently longer). So I was wondering if there is anything else she can do at home that is long lasting to relieve the pain? Thank you for all that you do.

Chelsea: Hi Dr. Cabral! Question from down in Australia! I got an Oura ring after hearing some of your podcasts on REM sleep and am loving it. I’m noticing that I’m getting 2-3.5 hours of deep sleep, but not much REM sleep (ie 45 mins to an hour and it’s usually between 5 and 7am). Is that normal? I have good sleep hygiene but my Oura ring is telling me my REM is low. Is it ok to have REM lower if deep sleep is higher? Based on my charts I’m getting lots of good deep sleep from 10pm - 1am. If I’ve tried all the pointers in your past podcasts about REM sleep but am not seeing an improvement, is it possible I just get less REM than most? Thanks for all you do to share helpful information on holistic health! I learn from you every day and share your work often!

Alyssa: Hi Dr. Cabral, I was hoping to get some further clarification on my htma lab. I went over it with my health coach during big 5 labs, and I didn’t fully understand the explanation as to why I am dumping large amounts into my hair! My calcium was 271, my magnesium was 44, my sodium was 356 and Potassium was 5. I also tested high in aluminum at 5.32. I’m 36 with controlled RA due to your protocols (thank you!), live a healthy lifestyle, eat well and exercise. I started getting debilitating migraines in February after my second Vacc and histamine reactions to a lot of foods. Because of this I had to quit working full time as an RN in May. Otherwise I’d say I’m pretty healthy and feeling better since running your labs and putting in work on protocols. Do you mind further explaining why I would be dumping so large volumes of certain minerals into my hair? Thank you!

Maelys: Hello Doctor. I discovered your podcast few months ago and I listen to you every morning on my way to work. Thank you for sharing all this knowledge. I have hidradenitis suppurativa, it is « genetics » as my sisters, mom and her mom also suffer from it. Do you have any advices? Have you help any client to put it in remission? I have been very ill for the last year and a half. I am literally feeling half alive… I found a great GP that diagnosed candida overgrowth (Candida albicans) currently treating it with nilstat I am wondering if those 2 conditions could be linked? Therefore HS won’t’ be genetics but a symptom of candida overgrowth that is transmitted by the mother’s vagina canal at birth? Thank you

Danielle: Hi Dr. Stephen Cabral, Big fan of yours! I was recently diagnosed with Hashimotos Hypothyroidism and have been detoxifying my environment. For the past 2 years I have been working with Polymer Clay as a hobby. I recently looked into what this "non-toxic" clay was made out of and it is man-made from a plastic, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) base. Would you advise staying away from this material as someone with an autoimmune disease? Thank you!

Hilary: Hi Dr Cabral, I am a new listener and am a huge fan, currently working through the backlog of podcasts. I have a question regarding daily activity. Like many these days, I work from home and am currently finishing my Bachelors Of Science in Health and Wellness (then plan to move on to the IHP courses!). I am 44 years old, had my last baby at 38 and have never been someone who has had trouble with my weight. I am a kapha body type, very curvy and gain weight evenly everywhere when I put weight on. I never lost the “baby weight” from having my last child and have put on about 15 extra since then. Completely due to a sedentary desk job at home, combined with being tethered to the computer after work to work on my degree. Needless to say, I have a very hard time getting my 10,000 steps as it seems there are simply just not enough hours in the day between work, school and commutes back and forth to pickup/ drop off of kids. Do you have any recommendations for how I can get my 10,000 steps in, if they’re broken up in chunks are they still effective? I follow a 14/10 to 16/8 intermittent fasting schedule 7 days per week and since hearing your podcast, do not eat after 6pm on any given day. I am very careful of my caloric intake, keeping my total calories right about 1500.

Nicole: Hi Dr. Cabral! I am a big fan and super enjoy your podcast. It has really sparked an interest in the field of natural medicine and health and I hope to be enrolled in your ihp program in the next year :) I have a question around napping. I have a newer job where I am up before 5:30 and working by 6:30. After 8-9 hours of working and being stimulated by tons of people and things to do I feel like I absolutely have to lay down. I take great naps between 20-30mins and feel refreshed, mind cleared and like I can continue on with my evening normally. I can get overwhelmed and stressed with work, take adrenal soothe daily (3-4 capsules) and was wondering if this is normal, and why I need extra sleep at 3pm after early and eventful workdays. I go to bed 9:30-10:30 every night, sleep well, and am a pitta-kapha body type and 27 years old if that adds anything. I have listened to your show on napping and wanted to hear any additional thoughts. Thank you!

Elizabeth: Hi!! Can you please explain how an imbalanced microbiome can lead to acne please? I know about food sensitivities causing inflammation and therefore skin issues. But assuming that there aren’t any food sensitivities, how can a dysbiosis lead to acne? Does it increase sebum production? Thank you so much.

Karim: Hi Doc! I'm obsessed with your podcast by the way. It's the best podcast in the world. It really is, so take a moment to appreciate that. What a wealth of knowledge you have. Oh my gosh! So, I'm trying to establish what the best time to wake up is. I'd love to wake up at 5 or 6 but I try to get a little more sleep because I'm a Vata body type so I tend to wake up at 7am. I saw that cortisol starts to rise at 6am but then according to Ayurveda we need to wake up during the Vata hour which is 4am and 5:30. Not in the Kapha hour which is 6am to 10am. A little confused about this because it doesn't align with the natural cortisol levels. I would have assumed that the Vata time would be when cortisol begins to rise (6am)?

Sophia: Hi there doc! I’ve been binging your podcast for about 4 months now and am loving it as a part of my morning routine. You’re such a great part of my life and I truly thank you for all that you do. Keep up your fantastic work! I have a somewhat contentious question regarding research studies - what is your opinion on getting “open access” to all research? I appreciate that with your Friday podcasts, you are able to give a simplified analysis of these long and highly esoteric studies to laypeople like me, but you’ve inspired me to do my own research now. Do you have any advice for obtaining “research study literacy”? Which research libraries do you use for your Friday reviews? I notice it’s mostly pubmed, but do you use Springer or do you have a membership with SSRN? I know some people have access to their university libraries, but I do think those expire. How do you check to make sure your studies aren’t contaminated with monetary agendas from certain sponsors? Do you only read ones that are free access? Do you think it’s worth it to become a member to certain libraries that are doing good and necessary research? If so, which ones do you like? Any thoughts would be great. Katlynn: Hello Dr. Cabral, I am 30 years old and had my first child naturally Aug 2020. Prior to pregnancy I was slightly overweight but not showing symptoms of toxic overload etc. I competed in powerlifting, practiced yoga, hiked mountains, and worked as a full time firefighter. Since having my baby I have had nothing but inflammation symptoms in my body. I have adjusted my diet back to an anti-inflammatory plan and am following your guidance as far as reducing the amount of meat I eat daily/increasing veg(also finding more quality sources of food). I recently did a 14 day detox with good results. I finally dropped below 180#for the first time since pregnancy. My goal weight and competition weight is 150-155. I am short statured at 5’3” but typically maintain 150 at 20% BF or so. This is the weight/body comp I feel the strongest and healthiest. I am being diligent about my diet and exercise and balancing my stressful job with relaxation to limit my stress response. My feeling is that something with pregnancy has completely thrown me off. I believe it was that tipping point of my rain barrel but I am diligently reducing my toxic load. My question finally, is- what advice do you have regarding remineralization/ nutritional support for a woman after pregnancy given some of my info?

Anonymous: Dr. Cabral, I’m writing out of a place of desperation. I feel like my body is literally breaking down, but realize that I cannot give in to that mindset; that will not serve me. My health is negatively affecting my daily functioning. I need direction on what to do, explore, & next steps. I’ve learned a great deal from you, & for that am grateful. I struggle with symptoms of fatigue & sleep issues, urticaria & skin issues, cysts, digestive issues, hx of rheumatoid arthritis & allergies, inflammation, weight issues, cold hands & feet, brain fog & memory issues, mild fibroids, struggle with word recall, imbalanced cortisol, etc. There are recent concerns about blood pressure & cholesterol. My heart rate is usually elevated, between 100-150ish. Even when I wake up, it’s in the 100’s. I’ve been to many doctors & specialists. I started my holistic health journey by running labs with your team & then found an integrative provider to support me locally. I’ve done thermography, which revealed lymph congestion, inflammation & my immune system is chronically activated. I've completed mold & CBO protocols. Next thoughts are to explore metals/biodentist, hidden infections & lyme. What else should I be looking at? I respect your opinion and perspective. Thank you for your patience.

Andrea: Hey Doc! I'm a 23 year old female Vata. My breakfast for almost two years was always wild blueberries, GF oats, oat milk, DNS powder and a tsp of mct oil or another healthy fat. Recently, I have replaced the blueberries with banana and 2 teaspoons of organic matcha. And to be honest, I'm obsessed I love it! I just feel a little bad because I know that having wild blueberries everyday is important for the antioxidants and anti-carcinogenic benefits. Did I make a bad decision? I've read that 1 tsp of matcha has 17 times more antioxidants than blueberries. So maybe I'm fine? Do you think switching back to blueberries is vital or I'm I getting the same benefits with the banana and organic matcha?

Whitney: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have had a strange condition for several years that no one and no doctor can solve. In 2017, I had breast implants placed due to breast abnormalities from breast feeding. Three months after surgery, I stopped producing my own saliva. ENT placed me on pilocarpine to initiate saliva production. Fast forward two years, I moved into a house with black mold. The environment in my mouth/nose became extremely sticky and glue - like. The only relief I get from this is taking an anti fungal lozenge, clomitrazole. I am taking an astonishing 600 lozenges a month that are coupled with the 200 pilocarpine pills a month. *side note* was also exposed to heavy metals (unknown type) in 2018. ANY info on this or ways I could improve would be greatly appreciated. It’s getting worse, and the needs for these prescriptions are becoming increasingly alarming and monetarily taxing. submitted earlier,  I also had an explant/ capsulectomy this past March 2021 due to concerns that my breast implants were causing my lack of saliva and sticky glue like issues. It has not eased and possibly gotten worse. I’m also blowing my nose up to 100 times a day with black debri coming out. Was on itraconazole in 2020 for six months due to possible systemic fungal infection. Just trying to give you as many facts as possible so you can help me figure out this miserable and horrible puzzle. Thank you so much, Dr Cabral!!!!

Christina: Hi there. I have suffered with interstitial cystitis since 2018. I am a 31 year old woman who is a school teacher and mother of 2. I am hoping you can answer what good supplements are great for IC also what is the root cause? Thank you!

Anonymous: When someone has bad smelling flatulence almost immediately (within 5-10 mins) after eating processed foods (bakery sweets for example), what could be going on for it to occur so fast?

Karim: Hi Dr Cabral! Thank you for showing up everyday for your community. You are extraordinary. I recently bought an Oura ring and I'm trying to understand it as much as I can. The main reason that I bought it was to track my sleep and HRV. I wear a fitbit at the same time and the sleep data in my fitbit is very different to the oura ring (fitbit always says less deep & rem sleep funnily enough) so not sure which one to trust. I'm guessing the oura ring? haha My second question is about HRV. And yes, I did listen to conversations with Dr Cabral on this topic but I'm just having a hard time understanding where to look at. Since the HRV is based on the previous night, whenever I see a lower HRV, what day do I need to look at? Would it be the factors (lack of sleep, poor diet, stress, etc) on the previous day? Sorry, I know my question is a little confusing and I hope it makes sense. I just want to know what period I need to look at when trying to identify why my HRV was lower than usual. This will allow me to work on it better by figuring out what specific factor caused this decrease.

Karim: Sorry I forgot to ask you in my previous question if a lower HRV is always a bad thing? Is it true that when your HRV drops, it indicates that one branch of your autonomic nervous system (ANS) is becoming more dominant, either your rest-and-digest or fight-or-flight side? So actually, if my PNS increases, my HRV will drop and so it's actually a good thing right? If that's the case, I'm confused as to why everyone is focusing on increasing HRV…

Anonymous: What can help with dyspareunia - a symptom of vulvar and vaginal atrophy, due to menopause. My wife had a hysterectomy years ago. She is using a prescription product- Intrarosa Prasterone , but this gives her headaches and other negative symptoms.
